Today at Solana Foundation's Breakpoint Conference we announced that Sling Money now supports adding and removing money with USDC and USDP stablecoins on the Solana blockchain. Up until now, you’ve been able to add and remove fiat currency to your Sling Wallet in 70 countries. Under the hood, Sling Money converts this fiat currency to a USD backed stablecoin. Now with the ability to add and remove USDC and USDP, Sling’s reach is extended to an additional 70 countries where you can use local exchanges to add and remove USDC or USDP from Sling almost instantly. We’re incredibly proud to now support over 140 countries across a mix of fiat and stablecoin currency. Our mission is to connect billions of people around the world to an instant financial system at as low a cost as possible. And today’s new feature gets us that much closer. With Sling Money you own your money, you own your wallet, and now you can seamlessly interact with the broader Solana ecosystem too. It’s that simple, and we’re very excited about it. Building Sling. Previously designing for ML at Spotify , growth at Monzo , other stuff for Google , Android, PotatoStudios & more

Solana is the new SWIFT When SWIFT was introduced in 1977, the standard for how banks sent money internationally changed. Global payments were opened up for individuals and companies. However, money needed to pass through an average of three correspondent banks before arriving at its destination. This takes between 1-5 working days - not to mention the processing fees that pile up along the way. 47 years later and things haven't changed much. I can fly from the UK to Australia faster than it takes for my money to arrive there. I'm still required to type in long IBANs or SWIFT/BIC codes with the fear I misspell something and my money will go to the wrong person. When we can do almost anything instantly online, it's time that money catches up. Payments between Sling users are done on Solana. This high throughput blockchain uses a combination of Proof of History, parallel processing, and a highly optimized runtime to make payments almost instantaneously, regardless of country. This means that when you use Sling to send money to anyone in over 50 countries, your transfers arrive in seconds. We've also rebuilt the user experience from the ground up, meaning you don't need to ask friends for a long string of numbers to send them money, you can find them in our global directory simply by searching their names.
