We're proud to share that we've placed 3rd in the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency's Grand Fishing Forecast Challenge. A collaborative effort across multiple Allen Institute for AI (AI2) departments, our AI models showed promise in spotting fishing patterns—an important step forward that will provide those on the water with the information needed to help address IUU fishing. We learned a lot from the competition and are excited to implement those lessons in the development of our platform. #AI #AI4Good #EndIUUFishing

First-of-its-kind and in near real-time. Maritime analysts and conservationists have long aspired to locate unreported vessels from space using optical imagery (1st picture). Now, that aspiration is a reality through Skylight's new AI-powered Sentinel-2 detections (swipe right)! As one user said, "Skylight’s vessel detection data from Sentinel-2 imagery has been a game-changer. It's a significant time-saver to have vessel detections automatically flagged for investigation." And so analysts can confirm the AI model's work for themselves, we've made every detection linked to a corresponding raw image in Sentinel hub (last image).
