*Redefining the Value of SAR in Earth Observation with MSI Integration* Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is renowned for its all-weather capabilities, often highlighted for its utility in cloud penetration and night-time imaging. The true potential of SAR, however, extends beyond these attributes when paired with Multispectral Imaging (MSI). 🛰 📸 We just partnered with GalaxEye to integrate multisensor technology for simultaneous SAR and MSI data collection. 🤝 Here's what that means: When integrated into SkyFi, SAR and MSI will provide a richer dataset. SAR, traditionally appreciated for its operational consistency under any weather conditions, gains enhanced utility in analytical applications when combined with MSI. This integration allows us to capture not just the structure but also the texture and context of landscapes, which is critical for detailed environmental analysis. 🏞 This dual capability is particularly transformative in sectors like agriculture and forestry. Here, SAR contributes to understanding physical and moisture conditions of the soil, while MSI brings detailed insights into vegetation health. Together, they facilitate advanced analytical outputs such as canopy height assessments and biomass estimates, which are crucial for sustainable management practices. 🌳 By pairing SAR with MSI, we unlock a new dimension of geospatial data utility, transforming how we monitor, analyze, and make decisions about our natural environment. 🌏

Lots more satellites coming online soon.
Went to submit a new task today and saw that the list of providers that I can choose from grew by one with one of my favorite additions yet 👀 big things coming to SkyFi soon!

Crazy tech release of the week: Azimuth Angle Selection … allowing you to see INTO airplane hangars. Hear me out. 👇 With the new azimuth angle selection feature you’re no longer limited to just overhead satellite captures. Imagine you’re in a dark room with a flashlight. If you shine it straight down, you only see what’s right under your feet. But if you tilt the flashlight at an angle, you can see under furniture, into corners, and across the room. The satellite works the same way: by changing the angle, it can capture images under bridges, into valleys, or even inside hangars. And with SkyFi Pro, you can select the exact time you want to capture your Umbra image. TLDR: you can now know exactly when a satellite is looking into hangar, under a bridge, or up a valley. Here's a link, it's under advanced settings: https://lnkd.in/g5ua2aem

Today we introduce the Azimuth Angle Selection feature for SAR satellite tasking! This powerful new tool gives you greater control over your imaging strategy by allowing you to choose the direction from which the satellite captures images. Whether you're looking under a bridge, down a valley, or even inside an aircraft hangar, this feature will help you get the exact view you need. The shaded area of the "pizza" visualization on our platform illustrates the angle from which the satellite will be approaching. This helps you select the right azimuth angle to capture the specific features or avoid shadowing effects in complex terrains. The feature is under the advanced feature settings when you go to task a Umbra SAR image. Try it out and let us know your feedback! https://lnkd.in/g7bCuCCQ

#Wildfire season is upon us, and its impact is felt year after year. Satellite imagery and analytics offer critical support in understanding and managing these events. The image provided showcases a before and after view of California's #MosquitoFire. Optical satellite imagery, as shown in the image, provides a clear view of landscapes before and after wildfires. The top-left quadrant shows a visual representation of the area before the fire, while the bottom-left quadrant displays the same area after the fire. This imagery helps in assessing immediate damage and planning response efforts. Before a wildfire, Land Cover Maps by Impact Observatory (top-right quadrant) are essential in identifying various vegetation types and understanding fuel loads. These maps help in risk assessment and resource allocation, allowing for better-preparedness measures. After a wildfire, infrared imaging (bottom-right quadrant) becomes vital in analyzing fire scars. This type of imaging detects burned areas and assesses burn severity by distinguishing between different levels of vegetation damage. Such information is crucial for post-fire recovery and rehabilitation efforts. #Analytics applied to these satellite images further enhance our understanding. Land cover analysis provides detailed information on vegetation types, aiding in the identification of high-risk areas. Fire scar analysis, particularly using infrared data, helps in monitoring the recovery of affected areas and evaluating the long-term impact on the ecosystem. By integrating optical satellite imagery and advanced analytics, we can improve our wildfire management strategies, ensuring better preparedness, response, and recovery.
