About us

Welcome to SINGforGREEN - Developing Sustainable Skills for Designers in Additive Manufacturing, where we're dedicated to advancing sustainability through innovative manufacturing. In the 21st century, the SINGforGREEN project addresses the lack of 'green skills' in additive manufacturing design training. We aim to create a tailored curriculum for companies, focusing on real-world skills gaps and promoting a green transition in AM. Our project, covering EQF 6 to 8, explores collaboration with Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers to broaden our impact, reaching a wider audience, including EU citizens. SING for Green strives to influence VET priorities, encouraging the development of green skills-aligned curricula and learner-centric programs for working-age adults. In the additive manufacturing realm, our project recognizes the transformative role of technologies like generative design and life cycle analysis. We leverage the digital landscape to offer innovative learning experiences, empowering individuals with the skills to create sustainable products. Join us in shaping a greener future through education and innovation.

Realising the real needs of the sector before preparing a curriculum that integrates sustainability skills was the first concern of the SingforGreen partnership. This task culminated in the organisation of a Focus Group, an event that made it possible to share the journey made and support future choices.   The Focus Group meeting with experts from the university sector, research centers, and industry included an ambitious agenda covering a detailed presentation of the results achieved and an engaging discussion.    🔍 Here are some key takeaways:  ▪️ Sustainable Product Development: Debated the role of Additive Manufacturing (AM) in sustainable product development, with a focus on context-specific applications. Also, discussed balancing production aspects with sustainable practices for economic benefits.  ▪️ Barriers/Challenges: Highlighted the need for comprehensive lifecycle information and better material recyclability.  ▪️ Training Topics and Methods: Covered components not typically printed, functionality, material selection, and compliance with technical standards and regulations.    Emphasis on "hands-on" learning, software interaction, and online training tailored to topic complexity.    💡Conclusion:  The discussions underscored the multifaceted considerations in integrating sustainability into AM training. Key areas included overcoming barriers, aligning training with industry needs, and selecting effective training methods.    This Focus Group provided valuable insights into the complexities and opportunities in sustainable AM practices and training initiatives. We're excited to continue exploring these themes and advancing our sustainability goals!   #Sustainability #AdditiveManufacturing #Training #Innovation #FocusGroup #SustainableDevelopment

Exciting Update from the SingforGreen Project!  Our journey towards sustainability continues as the SingforGreen project recently held a productive training workshop. This time, the spotlight was on the Learning Outcomes methodology, with insightful contributions from Brunel University London and European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting (EWF). 💻Throughout the workshop, our partners learned about the specifications of training programmes using this methodology, enhancing our collective understanding and approach. The session ended in a hands-on practical exercise, where participants actively engaged in writing learning outcomes and reflecting on the essential knowledge and skills needed for a more sustainable curriculum in design for additive manufacturing. We are thrilled to see such enthusiasm and collaboration within our partnership, driving us closer to our shared goals. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to forge a greener future together! 🌱✨    #SINGforGREEN #Sustainability #AdditiveManufacturing #LearningOutcomes #TrainingWorkshop #Collaboration #GreenFuture #BrunelUniversity #EWF #SustainableDesign
