KIT launches innovative AI courses with SiMa.ai development kits; Students use state-of-the-art edge AI technology to solve real-world problems Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), one of Europe's leading universities, is launching a new series of lab-based courses at the Institut für Technik der Informationsverarbeitung (ITIV) aimed at getting students to explore and solve real-world problems using AI. To provide a hands-on experience that enables students to achieve tangible and meaningful results, the University has purchased SiMa.ai development kits for each student enrolled. Designed specifically for AI at the Edge, these kits provide an experience that generic, out-of-the-box solutions cannot offer. “For KIT, equipping students with the most modern, power-efficient and performant technology available was and is paramount,” said Dr. Juergen Becker, professor at KIT (on the right in the accompanying photo). “Armed with dev kits from SiMa.ai, this budding generation of innovators will have the opportunity to work on real world problems as they interact with the next wave of AI applications – AI on edge devices – using some of the best and most specialized machine learning technology available on the market, e. g. based on our new strategic cooperation with a “rising star” like SiMa.ai.” For SiMa.ai, it is an opportunity to see our technology pushed and tested by some of the brightest young minds in tech. “It is a real honor that with KIT one of the world’s top universities has selected us as their partner for edge AI. “Edge chip maker SiMa.ai launches Modalix to bring multimodal gen AI everywhere” SiMa.ai’s new MLSoC Modalix is “pushing the boundaries of edge AI,” writes Carl Franzen of VentureBeat. Reporting on this week’s launch, Franzen had this to say about the company’s new edge AI product family: “The potential of SiMa.ai’s MLSoC Modalix family has not gone unnoticed by industry leaders. Arye Barnehama, CEO of Elementary, expressed enthusiasm for the platform’s energy efficiency and high performance, which aligns with Elementary’s vision inspection systems. Similarly, Vaibhav Ghadiok, CTO of Hayden AI, highlighted the platform’s ability to enable multimodal AI on power-constrained edge devices.The MLSoC Modalix family also benefits from SiMa.ai’s Palette Edgematic software stack, a no-code, drag-and-drop platform designed to make AI deployment accessible to non-specialist developers. In case you missed it, SiliconANGLE’s Mike Wheatley reported on the release of our new MLSoC Modalix edge AI product family, and why it’s so well-suited to handle multimodal workloads at the embedded edge. “The company is specifically aiming at so-called multimodal AI applications, which can understand and process multiple inputs in the shape of text, images, audio and more,” writes Wheatley. “Such models typically require much more processing power. Until now, they’ve always relied on cloud-based processors, resulting in lower latency when used in edge applications.
