We are delighted to welcome Luke Crehan to our team! 👨🔬 With a background in sustainability and a passion for green chemistry, Luke is here to help us crush our goal of capturing CO2 with milled returned concrete. Luke takes samples from our field experiments for analysis back in the lab, running various tests to quantify the CO2 we've captured through enhanced weathering. Welcome to the team, Luke :) #jobs #carbondioxideremoval #climate
About us
We remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by accelerating Earth’s natural carbon dioxide regulating mechanism - weathering. Head to our website, or email us at [email protected] to learn more.

Our US work was featured on the CBS Saturday Morning show 📺 We are undertaking an innovative trial with returned concrete in the US Midwest to understand the carbon removal potential of enhanced weathering in the region. Thank you Roxana Saberi for coming to meet us, and Erich Schott for being a 🌟. https://lnkd.in/eXDvtpBw

We published a peer-reviewed paper in Applied Geochemistry 🎉 A first for enhanced weathering field experiments: we weathered returned concrete (carbonate minerals) in an arable field; most trials have weathered basalt (silicate rock). This paper is important because: 1️⃣ It measured the product of the carbon dioxide removal (CDR) weathering step: bicarbonate. Most studies and companies look at soils to measure weathering, then infer CDR from the dissolution data. Unfortunately, weathering may ≠ CDR; it all depends on the acid dissolving the material. (Carbonic acid for the win 💘.) 2️⃣ It assessed the CDR potential of carbonate minerals as opposed to silicate minerals, like olivine (the fraction of basalt that weathers to form bicarbonate). 3️⃣ It demonstrated economically-viable rates of CDR (0.55tCO2/hectare/year) based on water measurements (direct assessment of CDR), which have not been seen in much of the silicate enhanced weathering literature. (To see a comprehensive list of enhanced weathering field studies, check out the literature section at the bottom of our science page.) 📖 https://lnkd.in/eDSHFFCF #enhancedweathering #carbondioxideremoval #geochemistry #science

Reflecting on a beautiful few days last week in Edinburgh speaking to the MSc Climate Change Finance and Investment programme at the University of Edinburgh Business School, and the Research Centre for Carbon Solutions at Heriot-Watt University. It was a pinch me moment to be back in a lecture theatre again, but this time giving a guest lecture, and a lovely experience learning about the world-class climate mitigation research going on in Edinburgh. Such impressive folk - there must be something in the Irn-Bru :) Thank you Mengfei Jiang and Ian Cochran for the opportunity to visit, thank you James Campbell for the warm invitation to speak to the group, and to Phil Renforth for a delicious lunch.

❌ marks the spot for Dogpatch alum Silicate, named as one of 20 global finalists at XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition 2024. The Sligo-founded startup, which scaled in our #2050Accelerator last year, will compete with its tech for repurposing concrete to remove CO2 in the Elon Musk-funded competition against the world’s top carbon removal startups. Best of luck Maurice and the team, from all at Dogpatch! 🔗 Read more, and other sustainability tech stories: https://dogpatch.click/5md
