Life only gets busier as your startup scales, so we asked some top founders how they manage their time and mental health https://lnkd.in/gvASzicV

View profile for Bradford Jones, graphic

45% of founders rate their mental health as “bad” or “very bad”. Yikes. So how do you avoid burnout? A few successful founders gave us these tips for staying happy and healthy while scaling -- just hit see more. -Just because you can do it yourself doesn’t mean you should. Empowering people to lead is more sustainable. -Next time you’re frantically fighting what you think is a five-alarm fire, ask yourself: “Is anyone going to die?” Then take a deep breath. -Sleep. Eat right. Hydrate. Exercise. Your body can’t function at peak performance without the right fuel. -Ruthlessly protect your personal and family time. Being physically present does not mean you are mentally present, so be sure to give yourself dedicated breaks. -Accept help. Only 18% of founders regularly see a therapist, even though 39% suffer from depression and 76% deal with high anxiety. You’re not in this alone. These tips from Exabeam‎ co-founder Nir Polak‎ and Horizon3.ai‎ co-founder Snehal Antani‎ helped them stay sane while growing their cybersecurity startups. If you're a founder and want to talk performance, please feel free to reach out to me! And check our blog for more insight from SignalFire‎'s 12-part Performance Mastery Series I’m co-leading with Taylor Barada to help maximize our portfolio founder potential https://lnkd.in/ddU8KHRd

Our talent Partner Heather Doshay is featured in Bloomberg News discussing our data that shows Austin is winning the hearts of relocating tech employees https://lnkd.in/dtX8RU9D

What will it take for Austin to become a tech hub that rivals San Francisco? Spoiler Alert: Not Elon Musk This year's SignalFire State of Talent Report found that Austin's tech talent population grew faster than any other city during the pandemic, with 23% growth in startup talent and 44% in big tech talent. Yet, San Francisco is still far and away the leader over any other tech hub by all volume measures. Ultimately, Austin is gaining tech talent share, but it's never going to be on the level of the SF Bay Area or Seattle because these are the birthing places of Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon and many more. Austin has Dell Technologies and Indeed. Cool cool, but not same same. The best future for Austin, with its massive relocation movement during the pandemic, is to create a hot spot for **founders** (not mega CEOs) to come together and build the next household, world-changing company. If *you* build it, they will come. (and not in the performative and transactional way you see today, as Paulina Cachero of Bloomberg so clearly points out)

    Cofounder & CEO of Ruli AI | ex-Google, ex-Meta

The other night, Ruli attended an incredible evening hosted by one of our investors SignalFire, that brought together general counsels and legal minds at the forefront of Legal AI. The event was co-hosted by Jennifer T. Miller, General Counsel at Grammarly, and Shana Simmons, Chief Legal Officer at Zendesk. They tee’d up a valuable conversation on AI in the legal tech stack. Together, we explored opportunities to unlock the power of AI in legal operations, and I’m so fortunate to be a part of the solution. I loved what Shana Simmons said in the opening remarks, "sales teams have long had Salesforce -- it's past time that legal teams benefit from a similar product." As you can imagine, this was a valuable event for us as what we’re building at Ruli is an AI Teammate for In-house Counsel teams. At Ruli, we believe in helping lawyers do their best work! Thank you for all the great conversations! Megan Niedermeyer, Eleanor Lacey, Aaron Marienthal, Anna Gressel, Claire Hart, Irene Liu, Brian C. Healthcare companies are leaking patient data through Facebook Ads and Google Analytics, and the FTC is fining them millions for it. So we're funding Freshpaint's platform for HIPAA-compliant marketing.

🚀 Freshpaint is one of the fastest-growing #HealthTech startups, growing revenue ~10X in the past year, but they’ve gone under the radar unless you’re a health data privacy wonk. 🛑 Regulators are cracking down on healthcare organizations for leaking sensitive patient healthcare data to Facebook, Google Analytics, YouTube, and more. Unfortunately, in 2022 about 30% of top hospitals were caught unintentionally sending private patient data to Facebook through web tracking tools. And now the FTC is hitting healthcare organizations with reputation-ruining multi-million-dollar fines. 💰 👍 Freshpaint is the best platform for protecting patient privacy while empowering high-performance marketing for leading healthcare organizations such as Yale and Baptist Health. That’s why SignalFire is thrilled to be funding Freshpaint and its founders Steven🚀 F. & Michael Malis as part of a $30M Series B round alongside Threshold Ventures, Intel Capital, Y Combinator, and others. 👇 Wayne Hu and I wrote a blog to share more on why Freshpaint will help healthcare organizations harness all their data without risking patient privacy. And if you want to join a fast-growing healthtech company that’s protecting everyone’s privacy, check out job opportunities in comments below. 🙏 Huge shoutout to Mohana Ravindranath at STAT for covering this exciting milestone!

AI is the $4.7 trillion U.S. healthcare industry's best hope for solving its massive affordability and data crises. That's why we're so excited to expand our healthcare investment team with Sahir Raoof, formerly at AI precision medicine startup Iterative Health.

I am very pumped to share that I joined SignalFire to invest in health and pharma tech! Healthcare has come a long way over the last several years, but so much exciting work still remains. New innovation coupled with the right business model offers the chance to catch disease earlier, accelerate therapeutic development, reduce the cost of bringing innovative medicines to market, and ensure their accessibility to all. There has never been a more exciting time to build in healthcare, and I look forward to partnering with founders who will reshape the industry. Thank you so much to Chris, Ilya, Wayne, Sooah, Yuanling, and the rest of the SignalFire team for welcoming me aboard. My dog Cooper and I are now SF boys — let me know if you want to nerd out on pharma tech or have any hike recommendations!

I love being a creator, funding creators building for creators. Thanks to Business Insider for naming me a top creator economy investor! Here's my thesis on where this industry is going: -Creators must seize the "means of distribution". With production becoming free in the digital age, creators should own the communication channel to reach their fans so they can't be filtered out by platforms' algorithms, unfairly taxed, or cut off from their audience by app shutdowns or strategy changes. -Creators don't have IT teams to stitch together APIs and point solutions, so they need comprehensive, easy-to-use tools so they can focus on their craft -In the age of AI, new tools will unlock ways to connect with fans at scale so no comment goes unreplied, to create across mediums so writers can make great videos and streamers can build games, and to build clones of themselves so your favorite expert can become an interactive assistant. It's been a blast working with our portfolio companies like Karat Financial (Eric Wei, Will Kim), Nim (Yury Lifshits), Truffle (Austin Hallock), Storycraft (Andy Mauro, Adam Waselnuk) and more. If you know any exciting creator economy company looking for help with recruiting, growth, PR, and data science, our AI-powered fund SignalFire and I would love to connect!

Only 5% of in-house legal counsels use AI, but they're spending 30% more each year outsourcing work. That's why we've led a $2.2M pre-seed for Ruli, the co-pilot for in-house counsels. Ruli’s LegalDesk tool automatically intakes and answers common legal questions based on a company’s own policies. It can review documents and imagery to flag legal issues and omissions, perform research and redlining, draft new docs, and recommend next steps. This massively improves efficiency so human counsel can focus on the most tricky, high-risk issues. Huge congrats to Bryan Lee & Xi Sun on the launch and being featured in Law(.com) and Law360 today. More on their mission to fix the in-house legal system here! https://lnkd.in/gs4T7kR4

Ruli is Coming Out of Stealth with $2.2M pre-seed! 🚀 We are thrilled to announce that Ruli, the AI Teammate for In-house Counsels, is officially emerging from stealth with a $2.2M pre-seed, led by SignalFire! Legal teams shared that they’re often understaffed and overburdened, leading to bottlenecks and delays – and often the culprit is an influx of Legal FAQs and a flood of requests for legal review. There is a need for solutions at the intake and triage stage. We automate answers to Legal FAQs, instantly unlocking productivity for stakeholders and infuse AI to streamline intake and automated legal review. We designed these features to alleviate the pressures on in-house legal teams, while presenting important issues forward. Ruli enables legal counsel to focus on the most complex, high-risk and relationship-oriented aspects of their work. 🎉 Excited to share our interview with Rhys Dipshan at Law.com https://lnkd.in/gzVjzsHH ✨ More details on our blog post: https://lnkd.in/gcZGXJhk 📣 A big thank you to our investors, including SignalFire, Foothill Ventures, Genius Ventures, Mana Ventures, PJC, and Bruce Gibney, for believing in our vision. Wayne Hu, Eric Rosenblum, Theresa (Wei) Dai, Ben Taft, Nick Simmons, Morgan Schwanke, Matt Hayes, David Martirano, Max Martirano, Carlos Jesena, and our extended SignalFire team: Heather Doshay, Josh Constine, Libby Hadzima Perkins, Yamiletzy Garcia, Veronica Mercado, Sadasia McCutchen, Jim Stoneham 😃 Special thanks to my co-founder, CTO Xi Sun, Design leader Dan Birman, and our incredible advisory team, Claire Hart and Danielle E. "Incrementality" is the new must-know marketing term. It means sales that wouldn't have happened without a specific ad campaign. That's opposed to Return On Ad Spend, which also lumps in sales that would have happened regardless. Incrementality is a much more accurate way to measure ads. For example, it cuts out sales from search ads where customers would have clicked your organic link and bought but just saw your ad first. In fresh news from Cannes, our portfolio company Incremental is partnering with ad giant WPP's GroupM to make Incrementality measurement and optimization the new default. More on the news in ADWEEK. Congrats David Pollet, Paul Palmieri, & team! https://lnkd.in/eAHxZBvb
