The latest ruling from the Supreme Court pausing the Good Neighbor rule presumes that it is normal and proper for people to subsidize industry with their health while ignoring the fact that companies have the means to adopt technologies that can greatly reduce health-harming pollution. It is simply unjust. I agree with Patrick Campbell, the executive director of Group Against Smog and Pollution (GASP), when he says “industry groups overall have argued the cost of implementing the rule is too high, and GASP’s feeling is that we can’t put a price tag on public health.” https://lnkd.in/gcy3C65A
About us
At the Sierra Club, we believe in the power of togetherness. Together, we remain committed to the fight for a healthy climate built on a foundation of environmental, racial, economic, and gender justice – a future where all people benefit from a healthy, thriving planet and a direct connection to nature. As the climate crisis and deeply entrenched systemic racism all fuel inequity, we will continue to fight for a bold, transformational agenda that recognizes the interconnectedness between our planet, our humanity, and our democracy. By recognizing that our destinies are tied, we continue to name that all things are fundamentally connected, and the overlap between ecology, race, gender, and representative government will move to either advance our collective humanity or to oppress it. Sierra Club is comprised of staff across the country and a network of local chapters that support our grassroots engagement. We are also proud to be a unionized employer, with two labor unions representing more than half of our employees. Please view www.sierraclub.org/careers/ for more information.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved permitting for the CP2 liquefied methane gas, or LNG, export facility. CP2 LNG is estimated to have lifecycle annual greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to about 20 times the annual emissions of the Willow Project, more than 42 million gas-powered cars, or 46 coal-fired power plants. This project would be a disaster for our climate and poison the air and water of communities in the Gulf Coast with cancer-causing chemicals. President Biden and the Department of Energy can still stop it. Demand they stop new LNG projects now at the 🔗 https://bit.ly/49MW5xp
