  • We're at Farnborough Air Show this week, and what better time to announce our new 5-year collaboration agreement with BAE Systems Air! 📢 Our digital transformation collaboration will deploy cutting-edge digital technology from the #SiemensXcelerator open business platform to transform engineering and manufacturing processes through FalconWorks, the R&D business within BAE Systems' Air sector. Through our agreement, we commit to work together globally and locally in the fields of sustainability, industrial digitalization and supply chain modernization to develop a framework to accelerate the commercial application benefits to BAE Systems within technology exploitation and adaptation. This initiative builds upon a decades-long successful partnership between our two organizations. Iain Minton, Technology Capability Delivery Director at BAE Systems, said: “Collaborations like this help us develop and invest in digital thread enabling technologies in a much more integrated and seamless way. Siemens understand the complexities of our operating environment, so we can very quickly mature an idea to the point where it is put into practice, for example when we are looking to implement / optimise new engineering, support or manufacturing capabilities. That’s the real value of this collaboration – the trust and understanding we have built together creates a really powerful force in driving results for the aerospace sector.” And Benjamin Sheath, our VP and managing director, UK & Ireland, said, “We are pleased to extend Siemens’ two-decade long relationship with BAE Systems as it continues to deliver on strategic plans to build the factory of the future. We look forward to working alongside the team at BAE Systems as they leverage the power of Industry 4.0 to help achieve the company’s digital transformation goals. This is another great example of how leaders in aerospace are choosing to partner with Siemens and adopt the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio as the foundation of their digital transformation.” The details 🔍 The five-year agreement is designed to explore and develop a strategic blueprint for engineering of the future and factory of the future capabilities across design and manufacturing disciplines within BAE Systems. This builds on and exploits the recent deployment of Siemens’ NX software for product engineering and Teamcenter software for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of industry software. • Air freight - reimagined! Natilus, a company focused on transforming the world's supply chain with its next-gen blended-wing-body aircraft, has reduced the development time to build its first prototype aircraft by 50%. How? With software! With help from software from the #SiemensXcelerator portfolio, the team not only reduced the prototype development time, they were also able to innovate a design that offers 1.5 times more cargo capacity than current cargo aircraft while consuming 50% less fuel. “Siemens' immersive technology is revolutionizing how we develop our next-generation aircraft. It's not just about seeing the design; it's about experiencing it in a way that enhances our engineering decisions and accelerates innovation,” said Aleksey Matyushev, CEO, Natilus. “Our work with Siemens and our adoption of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio allow us to achieve the speed with which innovation needs to occur and helps us to remain agile, flexible and reactive as we strive to meet customers’ demands for next generation, sustainable aircraft.” Natilus has adopted Siemens' NX X software for aircraft engineering and Teamcenter software for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). NX X is used for the highly complex surface design and mechanical engineering capabilities required for this fast-paced project. Because NX X is delivered through the cloud as part of Siemens Xcelerator as a service, Natilus is able to protect its mission-critical intellectual property while enabling agile collaboration on design and engineering tasks with its geographically dispersed development team. Natilus also uses software to bring the aircraft to the customer, using NX immersive designer. “When it comes to building next-generation aircraft, there is immense value in taking a model from a 2D screen to a full-scale 85-foot wingspan digital twin in our hangar. We've been able to experience this thanks to the power of the Siemens "industrial metaverse" as one of the first companies selected to use the advanced Sony headset and augmented reality software. This technology is making immersive design a reality and enabling collaborative product engineering capabilities and customer engagement that weren't possible before,” said Matyushev. Get the full inside scoop on this news in our newsroom ➡️ https://sie.ag/3iXRAy And if you're at Farnborough International Airshow this week, explore our collaboration with Natilus first-hand in chalet C331-32. #collaboration #innovation #FIA2024
