SWS was honored to sponsor the inaugural Black Corporate Board Readiness Gala!
The inaugural Black Corporate Board Readiness Gala was a night to remember. Over 250 passionate attendees came together to celebrate community, culture, commitment, and generosity at the gorgeous Locatelli Center, Santa Clara University. We were able to raise an astounding $500,000! A special shout-out goes to our Mistress of Ceremonies, Guylaine Saint Juste, and vocal artist Dr.Lori Hicks, both of whom made the evening shine. The BCBR program was founded to enhance private and public boards across the globe with the insight of diversity. After three short years, the 350 member strong BCBR community has mentored and advised exceptional cohorts to place over 150 participants on corporate boards in a myriad of industries. We also honored Barry Lawson Williams with the prestigious Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business Trailblazer Award. Williams is a living testament to the impact on corporate diversity that the BCBR aspires to facilitate. The event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of BCBR co-founders Thane Kreiner, PhD and Dennis Lanham, along with co-chair Caretha Coleman. It was such an honor to serve on the BCBR Gala Committee alongside members from various cohorts, including Wanda Cole-Frieman, Nathan Cox, André V. Chapman, Wendy-Kay Logan, Anita Lynch, Selika Josiah Talbott, Sharawn (Connors) Tipton, Eric Shaw, Sherie Hickman, Deidra Jackson, Denise Reese, and Michelle Rider. The Gala was brought to life by our generous sponsors: Cooley LLP, Genentech, LiveRamp, KPMG US, El Camino Health, The Leverage Network Inc., Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates, FTI Consulting, La-Z-Boy Incorporated, Management Leadership for Tomorrow, NABA INC., Siebert Williams Shank, and Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
