On World Maritime Day, we’re proud to support ship owners and operators in creating stronger safety cultures. Recent high profile incidents such as the Dali accident in Baltimore have highlighted that shipping’s safety failures are hiding in plain sight. As we pause to reflect, we are optimistic that this can be a watershed moment that inspires the industry to challenge operational ‘norms’ and raise safety standards to reflect those in more stringent industries like aviation. Challenging convention – not a lack of technology - is the barrier to proactively addressing these weaknesses. Osher Perry, CEO and Founder of ShipIn Systems, dives deep into this pressing issue in his latest blog. Read more about how we can bridge the gap between conventional maritime practices and cutting-edge technology to enhance safety and operational efficiency: https://lnkd.in/eHNhqswq By integrating AI-powered CCTV and real-time data analytics, our FleetVision™ platform empowers crews and shore-based teams to proactively mitigate risks and ensure swift responses to safety and maintenance issues. Our goal is clear: to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and, above all, safety. #MaritimeSafety #Technology #AI #CCTV #Safety

"The introduction of AI makes CCTV much more meaningful. Machine learning trains the cameras to sift through all the data, spot anomalies, and emit alerts, promoting focused decision making and timely intervention. It’s no longer guesswork—you can clearly see what happened, how, and where the problem started." - Capt. Ninad Sharad Mhatre.   We kick-off our first Customer Feature blog with Capt. Ninad Sharad Mhatre, Managing Director of Zeaborn Ship Management, who shared his thoughts on technological advancements and providing practical examples of how Zeaborn - a leading third-party ship manager is using the ShipIn Systems' FleetVision platform to enhance operational safety and performance, reduce downtime while protecting their people, assets and cargo. Some key highlights: - The ISM code has generated something of a checklist culture. ShipIn's FleetVision shows very clearly whether safety rounds and/or maintenance have been carried out, providing objective proof of compliance with the ship’s safety management system. - The use of AI technology can play a significant role in reducing downtime and boosting operational safety. - Having AI-powered CCTV onboard provides concrete evidence for maintenance and incidents. - Real-time alerts i.e. early signs of fire, leaks and attempts of unauthorized entry enable swift decision making process and timely intervention. The maritime industry faces a critical challenge: the fire safety systems on many container ships have not kept pace with their growing size. In a recent interview with TradeWinds, Markus Spielmann, Global Head of Marine Reinsurance at Munich Re, highlighted how failures in training, cargo handling, and regulations have turned container ships into “vulnerable giants” with major shortcomings to fight onboard fires. According to Spielmann, the latest high-profile incidents underscore the urgent need for improved safety standards and training. Osher Perry, ShipIn Systems’ CEO & Founder, shared how we are addressing these issues with our advanced FleetVision Platform. By leveraging AI-powered cameras and real-time analytics, FleetVision detects risks before they escalate, enhancing safety and operational efficiency. Together with our investor Munich Re Ventures, we are working to transform maritime’s safety standards. The Dali incident in Baltimore this year serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need to reassess maritime safety standards. In a new op-ed featured in Marine Log, our CEO Osher Perry explores the systemic vulnerabilities within our industry that continue to put both crew and vessels at risk. Despite regulations, training, and audits, major incidents, injuries, and even fatalities persist. The maritime sector, unlike aviation, is often slow to adopt new technologies that could prevent these tragedies. Why does this gap exist? And how can we close it? At ShipIn Systems, we believe technology holds the key to transforming maritime safety. Our FleetVision AI-powered CCTV system provides real-time alerts and insights, significantly reducing onboard incidents and improving transparency between ship and shore. It's time to move from a culture of risk acceptance to one of proactive prevention. The Dali incident should be a wake-up call. We must embrace the tools we have available to elevate safety standards and prevent future tragedies. The technology is here - now it's up to the industry to make the change.
