We’re thrilled to announce that we have joined forces with KULBARDI and the Bibbulmun Fund - a fund of the Fremantle Foundation - to launch a new Indigenous Leadership Program for girls aged 14-17. Led by proud Larrakia woman and star WNBL point guard Abby Cubillo, the program is built around a holistic curriculum designed to empower young Indigenous girls by building self-confidence and nurturing leadership qualities in a supportive community where they will be able to deepen their connection to their cultural identity, develop their basketball skills, and grow alongside their peers in an uplifting and inspiring environment. Through skill workshops such as goal setting, healthy conflict resolution, time management, and overcoming limiting beliefs, the program provides these girls with the opportunity to develop essential life skills that will help them thrive both on and off the court. This initiative represents more than just a program — it’s marking a significant step in creating lasting change. We are so excited to see the positive impact that this will have in shaping a future where the strength, resilience, and brilliance of Indigenous women lead the way. #WeAreBasketball | #SheHoops

I honestly cannot thank She Hoops, Seattle Storm and Jayco Corporation Pty Ltd (Australia) enough for affording me the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally throughout the last three months. This Administrative Fellowship allowed me the opportunity to observe and learn from the Front Office team for the Seattle Storm in the WNBA. Being provided time with Marketing, Public Relations, Corporate Partnerships, Community & Social Impact, Operations, Sales and Services. Gaining insights into the departments operations and processes, understanding key values and strategies in place to maintain as well as continue to grow this successful organisation. I’m grateful for this opportunity, the connections and the welcoming and willingness from the Seattle Storm to have me on board and be apart of the team within this time. None of this would’ve been possible without the work from Lauren Jackson AO OLY and Alisha Valavanis to develop this fellowship, and the Mentorship from Samantha Groves and Rohre Titcomb throughout the program. We are tremendously lucky to have such incredible women leading the way. I am looking forward to having the opportunity to take these learnings home to Basketball Australia and specifically Basketball SA so we can continue to grow Women’s Basketball in all levels and aspects of the sport.

Loving every moment of this incredible journey. Huge thanks to Jayco Corporation Pty Ltd (Australia). Beyond grateful for the support of the Basketball SA team and specifically the Senior Leadership Group as I undertake this professional development opportunity.
