About us
Led by elected Sheriff Paul Miyamoto, the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office serves the people of San Francisco by maintaining and operating county jails, providing law enforcement services and patrol for high-profile public buildings, and performing civil court orders on behalf of plaintiffs. The Sheriff’s Office transports all voted ballots to a central counting location and protects the voting process. Its elite and voluntary Emergency Services Unit trains for and responds to requests for local, regional, and state assistance. The Sheriff’s Office employs approximately 860 peace officers and almost 200 non-sworn staff and has been an effective, integral part of civil and criminal law enforcement since 1850. Today is National Women's Equality Day. Today commemorates the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote. We also acknowledge that many Black women did not get the right to vote until the 1965 Voting Rights Act was amended. Let us celebrate the strides that have been made and continue to move forward, shattering glass ceilings and concrete barriers. 30x30 Initiative #womenequality #womenrights #womenempowerment #30x30Initiative
