It's our team's favorite time of year again - Service Day! This week, our team rolled up our sleeves and partnered with the incredible SF-Marin Food Bank for an afternoon of giving back. In just 1.5 hours, we packaged a whopping 450 boxes 📦 totaling 13,000 pounds of food 🤯 all destined for families in need across our community. But it's more than just numbers. Service Day is our chance to unplug from the daily grind and bond as a team outside the office while making a difference in our city. A huge shoutout to SF-Marin Food Bank - not just for hosting us, but for their tireless work year-round. They ensure families in our city have reliable access to healthy food, a mission we're honored to support. And a big thank you to our very own Lucy Huang, CPA for planning a special afternoon. Days like these remind us why we love calling this city home. Here's to making a difference, one box at a time! #CommunityService #GivingBack #FoodSecurity #TeamVMG

We’re excited to share the news: Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 2786 (Certified Mobile Farmers' Markets) into law! We extend our deepest gratitude to Assemblymember Mia Bonta who was our champion for this legislation and committed to healthy, food access for all. We created the first state law for mobile farmers' markets in the country! With passage of this law, we now have a legal definition of certified mobile farmers' markets in California to maintain integrity and promote even greater access to fresh, culturally-relevant foods in our local communities while supporting small-scale farmers. The California Department of Public Health will now be able to include mobile farmers' markets in their state plan of operation for the WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program to allow families to use their benefits at mobile markets. Our success is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our community. Thank you to the 200 people who sent lettters of support, which made this victory possible. We couldn’t have done this without the incredible support from Assembly Health Committee consultant, Eliza Brooks, who helped us amend our way to success! I would like to thank SF-Marin Food Bank One Big Table event last night. It was truly inspiring to see some of the most influential chefs and restaurants from the San Francisco food scene come together for a cause that means so much to me. This incredible charity provides home-delivered groceries, supporting better health and independence for seniors and neighbors with disabilities. They operate 250 pantries, offering fresh groceries in a farmers market-style setup, and are currently helping over 53,000 households each week, with more than 1,000,000 meals distributed weekly. It was an unforgettable experience, and I’m so proud to support such a meaningful cause. Special thanks to Gloria Trujeque-Renteria Christopher Padula Gabriel Nunez Christopher Bean Aaron J Clarke The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco

Hunger Action Month went by quickly, but it doesn't mean the work is over. However, it does mean that Delta Dental Ins.'s $100,000 match will end on September 30. The truth is that hunger is no longer at the forefront of people's minds like it was during the pandemic. But for a child with an empty belly or a parent having to stretch their dollar until payday, it's impossible to think of anything else. Hunger Action Month may end on September 30, but the work towards a hunger-free world continues. Give now and turn your dollar into enough food for 4 meals! 🔗 https://loom.ly/65nfOyk

Sam is a Home-Delivered Groceries (HDG) driver and a long-time volunteer at our Illinois warehouse. He's delivered over 130,000 pounds of food and volunteered more than 700 hours to help 75 households weekly. "Food is a way for people to show how much they care about people, without knowing how to say it or show it otherwise. I feel like you can solve a lot of problems with food," shared Sam. Not only does he deliver groceries, but he also offers free haircuts to the participants on his delivery route. Sam's inspiring message is simple: kindness is strength. You can make a difference in the lives of your neighbors too, like Sam. For every 100 new or returning volunteers who sign up for a route through our Home Delivered Groceries (HDG) program, the Alice Lam Memorial Fund will donate $25,000 through September! What does “strengthen and protect the Farm Bill” mean, exactly? The Farm Bill is federal legislation that determines which foods are accessible and affordable for all and provides funding for SNAP/CalFresh. However, the US House Agriculture Committee has proposed devastating cuts to SNAP/CalFresh in the upcoming Farm Bill. With data showing that over 1 in 5 Californians face food insecurity and that we now spend more than 2x on food than we did before the pandemic, we must have strong safety nets for our communities facing food insecurity. For every $1 in CalFresh benefits, $1.54 in economic activity is generated. This impacts all of us. Sign up to learn more about our work: https://loom.ly/yZYR5ms
