📢 Case Study Spotlight: How AI is Transforming Sewer Assessment in Phoenix, AZ! City of Phoenix Water Services, who manages over 5,000 miles of sewer lines and 101,000 manholes, has embraced the power of AI to address the growing challenges of its aging infrastructure. In our latest case study published in the latest Trenchless Technology Magazine, authored by Samantha Pierce and Eric Sullivan, highlights how SewerAI’s tools are enabling the city to improve efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness in its sewer assessment and rehabilitation efforts. Starting with a pilot program in 2022-2023, the City of Phoenix, and its consultants from Dibble, evaluated various Automated Defect Recognition (#ADR) vendors from around the world, selecting us due to superior accuracy and cost-savings capabilities. Our tools now help the City of Phoenix streamline its CCTV data review, allowing contractors to upload footage directly to the PIONEER® cloud, and access AutoCode™ outputs verified by our NASSCO, Inc.-certified professionals. The results? Enhanced planning, faster turnaround, and more strategic rehabilitation decisions—all while extending the life of the infrastructure. With additional tools like Sewer3D and QAI™, Phoenix is set to advance even further, managing its wastewater systems more proactively and sustainably. Fresh off our successful presence at #WEFTEC24, over 60 of us on the SewerAI team gathered together in New Orleans for our third annual company-wide offsite summit. We hosted an insightful panel discussion and Q&A with folks from our customer Equix to hear firsthand how our tools have impacted their business, and to listen to their feedback on what we can work on next. We were able to connect with and also acknowledge each other, and specifically we honored Noah Rubinstein, Tarah Kelley, and Tim McGarry for their contributions with the Edmund Muskie, Rachel Carson, and John Snow awards (respectively). Over these upcoming 12 months and beyond, we’ve committed to an aggressive developmental roadmap that will redefine how our industry approaches data collection, project management, sewer assessment, and repair planning. While we all feel accomplishment in how far we’ve come, it’s very clear to us that we’re just getting started. Stay tuned!!!
