Chief Medical Officer, Sevaro Health | We’re Hiring!

Recently, I apologized to a friend. He said something to me that caught me off guard. “Rajiv, you make it look easy to raise 3 kids, see patients, run a company, oversee a non-profit, and be a husband." I told him I was “extremely sorry if that’s the impression I gave off about my life.” Because it is not easy at all, I’d rather say it’s the hardest thing in the world. Make no mistake, balancing so many hats at the same time is tiring. Sometimes, I don’t even know how things end up being managed because I’m an average guy with average intelligence. (But I have ridiculous grit). At the same time, I wouldn’t trade any of those hats for the world. It’s obscenely hard, but this is the life I was chosen for. Why do I love it? Because I was chosen to provide 3 kids with the best life they could ever dream of. I was chosen to be a husband to an amazing woman (even when I get “the stare”). I was chosen to help patients with neurological disorders. I was chosen to build StatSeva (dot) org. I was chosen to make sure employees at Sevaro thrive in their careers. The unexpected challenges, perpetual chaos, and exhaustion are absolutely, insanely worth it for me. I’ve realized it’s no longer about what I can achieve but rather what I can give. I’ve realized after speaking with friends and mentors, it’s not just me who has so much going on in life. It’s all of us. Nobody has it “all figured out” And it’s okay. As long as we find purpose through meaningful time spent in balancing what and who we love, it is all worth it.

🏥 Why Stroke Center Certification Matters Stroke centers play a pivotal role in emergency stroke care, but not all are created equal. The classification of these centers vary significantly by state, influencing the quality of care patients receive. At Sevaro, we're committed to helping hospitals navigate and excel in meeting rigorous standards. Whether it's upgrading documentation for accreditation or integrating state-of-the-art telestroke services, Sevaro is at the forefront. Our work not only aids in achieving certification but also elevates the quality of stroke care provided to patients. In our latest blog post, learn how we collaborate with hospitals to ensure the best outcomes and how this impacts you and your loved ones : https://hubs.ly/Q02FcRfV0 (Authored by Sevaro's Melanie J. #TelestrokeTuesday: Roberto's Lifesaving Airlift to a Comprehensive Stroke Center 🚁 It is easy to see the appeal of living in a rural area...the peace and quiet, rustic beauty, and fresh air are just some of the pros. Yet, for all its peace and serenity, rural living comes with certain stark realities, particularly when it comes to medical emergencies. For 68-year-old Roberto, a man with atrial fibrillation and on anticoagulation therapy, this was his reality. Despite being on Eliquis, Roberto suffered a significant stroke, characterized by dense left-sided weakness and a right gaze deviation. 🚁 Rapid Airlift to Care Due to the time-sensitive nature of strokes, the stakes were incredibly high. Thankfully, despite being in a rural area, Roberto was able to be airlifted in time to a large Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC). This swift action was crucial, as the local hospital was not equipped to take care of patients with severe strokes. 🧠 Access to Expert Care After a consult and diagnosis from a virtual neurologist, Roberto underwent emergent endovascular therapy (EVT), a procedure that successfully achieved TICI 2C reperfusion, greatly improving blood flow to the affected area of his brain. Post-treatment, his NIHSS score improved dramatically, showcasing a substantial recovery. 🏥 The Importance of Rural Hospital Access At Sevaro, we envision a future where exceptional neurological care is accessible to every patient with a neurological disorder, regardless of their location. Roberto’s story highlights the vital need for rural hospitals to have access to vascular neurologists and Comprehensive Stroke Centers. Today, as we observe Juneteenth, we're reminded of President Obama’s words: "Juneteenth has never been a celebration of victory or an acceptance of the way things are. It's a celebration of progress. It's an affirmation that despite the most painful parts of our history, change is possible—and there is still so much work to do." Let’s keep striving to make the world a healthier, more equitable place for all. ❤️💚🖤 #Juneteenth
