Thanks to all of the leaders who attended our President's Leadership retreat this year! We look forward to having others join in next year at Grand View University.
Earlier this month we held Seed Coalition's Presidents' Leadership Retreat at Grinnell College. Thank you to Anne Harris and her team for being warm and conscientious hosts for both days! It was a pleasure to be joined by Amy McIsaac to present on Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement (PACE)'s Civic Language Perception Project. And thank you to Alicia Faust, Becky Vonnahme, and Andrea V Duarte-Alonso for bringing the viewpoint from communities we serve to the table. Lastly, I'm so very grateful to Scott Olson, Dr. Rachelle Karstens Keck, Kumara Jayasuriya, Mark Nook, Rob Denson, Adreain Maurice Henry, OD, EdD, MBA, MA, Virginia Arthur, and Paula O'loughlin for taking the time to join us for all or part of the event. We look forward to having next year's retreat at Grand View University! More to come!

Congratulations to our friends at Wartburg College!
We are proud to announce that Wartburg College was one of only 25 schools nationwide and the only one in Iowa to earn a Carnegie Elective Classification for Leadership for Public Purpose. The classification acknowledges colleges and universities that have committed to campuswide efforts to advance leadership in pursuit of public goods like justice, equity, diversity and liberty. “The acknowledgment of Wartburg College as a national exemplar in Leadership for Public Purpose is a testament to both our mission and our people. The exceptional vision of Michael Gleason in both undergraduate and graduate spaces has led to experiences both inside and outside the classroom that center communities and action in leadership education,” said Wartburg President Rebecca Ehretsman. “Our mission, vision and values focus on leadership and service as pillars of the holistic education we aim to provide, graduating the next generation who will be truly equipped to impact their communities and our world.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/g6d4ajDN

We are thrilled to hear about the work being led by the MSU Center for Teaching & Learning Innovation featuring the Social Change Wheel. Thanks for sharing Michigan State University Center for Community Engaged Learning!
Our team was so excited to participate in the MSU Spring Conference on Teaching and Learning: Equitable & Engaging Education for All hosted by the MSU Center for Teaching & Learning Innovation. Michelle Snitgen, Stephanie Brewer, PhD, Bess German, and Taylor Martin presented Engaging in Social Change: Exploring Community-Engaged Pedagogy Through the Social Change Wheel. This roundtable session was an outcome of our 2023-24 interdisciplinary learning community, generously sponsored by MSU’s Office of Faculty and Academic Staff Development. Our 2023-2024 learning community focused on exploring an expanded definition of community-engaged learning utilizing the Social Change Wheel as a guiding framework. The Social Change Wheel, an equity-centered framework, outlines diverse pathways for faculty-practitioners to involve students in their coursework, and deepen their understanding of course content through social change strategies, including philanthropy, advocacy, social innovation, community organizing and more! 💚🌟 Do you or your organization use the Social Change Wheel? Check out this great feature from the Minnesota Private College Council highlighting the work of some of our member campuses that were recognized at our annual awards this year!
Through particularly meaningful service-learning projects, nursing students at Bethel University, physician’s assistant students at Augsburg University and physical therapy students at Concordia University-St. Paul have been exposed to a far broader range of patients and medical conditions than they would typically face. These three distinctive programs were among those recognized this spring by the Seed Coalition. https://lnkd.in/gC-pPV5x #ServiceLearning #ServiceLearningProject #Minnesota #LiberalArts #HealthScience

Did you know: The Social Change Wheel is a tool created by Minnesota Campus Compact (one of the organizations now a part of Seed Coalition) almost 20 years ago? With a refresh in 2019, this tool is a great way to explore the many components of Social Change and how we can each be a part of the process. This week, members of our team had the chance to share this tool VISTA members across Minnesota in partnership with fellow sponsor organizations Literacy Minnesota, Minnesota Alliance With Youth, Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, and HOME Line. Learn more about having a member of our team facilitate a session on the social change wheel (or many other topics!) here: https://lnkd.in/g3_W5s-V
