A recent study by Colorado State University has revealed that elephants use names to call each other, making them the first known non-human species to do so. Using machine learning, researchers analyzed vocalizations from elephants in Kenya and found that specific calls elicited responses from individual elephants, suggesting the use of unique names. This incredible discovery could help reduce human-elephant conflicts by allowing our species to communicate with each other.
