Celebrating 20 years of A/E/C career exploration for Puget Sound high school students
About us
Since 2001, the ACE Mentor Program of Washington has helped Puget Sound-area students learn all about the architecture, engineering, and construction professions. The program is free to students, thanks to donations from local firms, mentors, parents, and other supporters. To date, it has also given $984,000 in scholarships to students who pursued A/E/C fields at the university level. During the ACE Mentor Program, teams visit major construction sites, complete projects, and meet bi-monthly at mentor firm offices. Qualifying high school seniors are awarded scholarships and many students remain in touch with industry professionals for continued mentoring with career choices, college and internship applications and future employment opportunities.

This year 62 firms (!!) contributed to our Building Futures Together fund, allowing us to continue to provide this program free of charge to Puget Sound students and award $134,000 in scholarships to 14 seniors from Seattle, Bellevue, and Tacoma. Thank you to Platinum sponsors Magnusson Klemencic Associates, Hargis Engineers, and Mackenzie, thank you to Matt Waller from P2S for capturing the event photos, and thank you to LMN Architects for hosting us in The Shop! #bignight #allsmiles #scholarships #showmethemoney

🚨 WE NEED YOU! 🚨 We were shocked to learn late last month that one of our ACE students, a junior from Jackson High School in Everett who is on the Thursday Seattle Team 1, was diagnosed with a form of leukemia and will undergo aggressive treatment at Seattle Children's for the next 8-10 months. Our hearts go out to Will and his family during this incredibly challenging time. We learned the Puget Sound supply of blood for transfusions, of which Will has already had several, is "critically low," so ACE has teamed up with Bloodworks Northwest to host a virtual blood drive in Will's honor. Make an appointment at any location (Seattle, Bellevue, or Tacoma) from May 20 to June 10 and give the code word "WILL" when you arrive to participate in our drive! Students 16-17 can donate in Washington with parental permission, and everyone else 18 years old and above is eligible. Please share with your families, firms, contacts, friends, anyone! We are eager to rally for Will, an enthusiastic and dedicated ACE student who we will miss as he takes on this new challenge. Please share and donate! #acementorsforwill #donateblood #giveblood #bloodsaveslives

Charlie Thornton is part of every ACE affiliate's story! We are mourning the recent passing of this visionary man who founded ACE in NYC in 1994. What started as the smallest of endeavors has now reached all corners of the country and changed countless lives. May peace be with Charlie's family at this time of loss. Thank you Charlie for all you have done!
It is with heavy hearts that we remember the incredible life and legacy of our founder, Charlie Thornton. 💙 🕊 We invite you to join us in celebrating Charlie's impact by sharing your cherished memories with us. Please take a moment to read our letter to the ACE Mentor Community as we remember Charlie's profound impact on us all.

In your personal end-of-year giving, would you consider the ACE Mentor Program of Washington's new Women in Engineering Endowment Fund? After a generous gift from Magnusson Klemencic Associates and a matching gift from retired MKA Principal Shelley Clark, the Puget Sound-area ACE affiliate became the first in the nation to start an endowment with the goal to support young women in engineering. Our initial goal is $100,000 with a final goal of $250,000, and we are looking forward to using these funds to support young women in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other building engineering fields. Please consider making a donation of any size! Our campaign just began and we already have thousands of dollars in pledges, inching us closer toward our goal. Thank you for your support in 2023! https://lnkd.in/dSg9Remf #womeninengineering #stemgirls #supportwomen #donatetoday
