This year's theme, "Embracing Technology Learning: Stay Curious, Stay Relevant!", highlights the critical importance of continuous learning and adaptability amidst rapid technological advancements. Our focus this year is on AI, a transformative force reshaping industries and redefining the future of work. A heartfelt 'Thank You’ to our Executive Vice President, Lim Shih Hsien, and our Chief People Officer, Lee Chay Hoon, for their inspiring opening remarks. Their vision and leadership continue to drive our journey of discovery and learning. We were thrilled to welcome members of the Old Engineering Apprentice Association (OEAA) to Admiralty Yard, formerly, the Sembawang Shipyard, where they gathered over lunch to present a lovely painting to Seatrium’s management team. Aptly named “We were there”, the painting depicts a group photograph taken in front of the Sembawang Fire Station, which has been designated as a National Heritage since 2017. Sembawang Shipyard was a place where many of the apprentices spent their teenage years with fond memories, having graduated from past apprenticeship programmes, including the Sembawang Shipyard Apprenticeship Training Scheme which started way back in 1968. For many of them, the apprenticeship was a great opportunity to further their education, learn a skill and earning a living at the same time. Officially opened in 1938, Sembawang Naval Base was first established where warships were refuelled and repaired. Today, the shipyard remains a key part of Singapore’s offshore & marine industry, and an important part of the Seatrium's growth story. It was a nostalgic walk down memory lane for these industry pioneers, who have contributed vastly to the growth of the offshore & marine industry and the early days of Singapore’s industrialisation, and the rich heritage that Seatrium comes from. In an age where #RenewableEnergy dominates the global discourse, Seatrium had the privilege of taking part in a pivotal panel discussion titled "Partnerships Powering APAC Offshore Wind" at WindEnergy Hamburg 2024! 🤝 Co-organised by Enterprise Singapore and Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), this event brought together key players from across the #offshorewind sector, each ready to tackle the industry's challenges while uncovering new opportunities for collaboration. Our Executive Vice President for Engineering, Technology, and New Product Development, Aziz Merchant, shared the stage alongside esteemed leaders such as Keng Lin Lee 李庆仁, CEO of Cyan Renewables, and Tim Fischer, Global Executive Director for Wind at Ramboll. The panel was expertly moderated by Meredith Annex, Head of Clean Power at Bloomberg. This dynamic forum offered a rich tapestry of insights, exploring the rapid evolution of the APAC wind market and how meaningful partnerships can pave the way for a #sustainable energy future. The discussion centered on the evolving APAC wind market, its challenges, and valuable lessons the industry can draw from oil & gas. The panel brought together three distinct perspectives - those of a developer, an EPC player, and an engineering company - offering a comprehensive view of the sector's future. Aziz Merchant highlighted how the #offshorewind industry can benefit from the oil & gas sector’s experience, especially in design standardization. He also emphasized Seatrium’s flexible #EPC delivery models tailored to meet the growing demands in the APAC region, particularly with increasing local content requirements. The panel agreed on the rapid emergence of the APAC #offshorewind market and the promising targets set by governments in the region. Aziz Merchant stressed the importance of collaboration with the right partners and expressed optimism about gaining better visibility into upcoming project developments, allowing companies to plan effectively and make informed investments. We are pleased to share that our Vice President of Engineering, Kuangwei Huang participated in a panel discussion on "Reimagining FPSO Engineering: Leveraging Technology in the Pre-FEED Stage of FPSO Lifecycle Expansion" at the #FPSOWorldCongress2024 held in Singapore last week, alongside other industry luminaries such as Xuan Chi (Damien) NGUYEN of Wison New Energies and Sanjeet WARAVADEKAR of Shapoorji Pallonji. Kuangwei shared his insightful views on leveraging data, digital twins and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve pre-Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) and reduce execution risk. As a market leader in FPSO newbuilds and conversions, Seatrium has vast experience in hull condition monitoring, equipment condition-based maintenance (CBM) and digital deliveries for digital twins. He also delved into data sharing models that facilitate life extension and lessons learnt, as well as potential use cases for AI and large language models (LLMs) in processing design and equipment specifications. The panel also brainstormed collaborative ways to increase pre-FEED iteration cycles from design decisions to impact on costing. Earlier this year, Seatrium and ABS joined forces to develop a digital playbook that drives operational excellence in the offshore and marine industry, including Condition-based Class methodology that empowers asset owners with data-driven insights.   We thank the organisers for this opportunity to come together to collaborate and shape the future of the offshore and marine industry.
