The weather is changing, and with it comes new challenges for those living with sickle cell disease. At the Scott Center for Observation Treatment and Transition, we know how unpredictable this condition can be, especially during seasonal shifts. Here are a few tips to help you stay safe and avoid hospitalizations: 1. Stay Hydrated 💧– Cooler temps can make it easy to forget, but hydration is key to preventing sickle cell crises. Keep water on hand! 2. Layer Up 🧤– Cold weather can trigger pain episodes. Dress warmly and avoid sudden temperature changes. 3. Stay Active, But Don’t Overdo It 🏃🏾♂️– Regular, light exercise can help blood flow but know your limits. 4. Monitor Your Body💪🏾 – If you start to feel off, act early. Reach out to your healthcare team before symptoms worsen. At Scott, we’re here to help you navigate these changes and stay strong through every season. #ScottCenterOH🩸🌙 #SickleCellAwareness❤️ #StaySafe⛑️ #TransitionToBetterCare👩🏾⚕️ #ChangingSeasons🤧
