Here are a few tips to help you stay safe and avoid hospitalizations: 1. Stay Hydrated 💧– Cooler temps can make it easy to forget, but hydration is key to preventing sickle cell crises. Keep water on hand! 2. Layer Up 🧤– Cold weather can trigger pain episodes. Dress warmly and avoid sudden temperature changes. 3. Stay Active, But Don’t Overdo It 🏃🏾♂️– Regular, light exercise can help blood flow but know your limits. 4. Monitor Your Body💪🏾 – If you start to feel off, act early. Reach out to your healthcare team before symptoms worsen. What an incredible day! Today, our amazing CEO, Dr. La'Shardae Scott, MSW, CHES, CHW, had the absolute pleasure of speaking to 6th to 8th graders at L. Hollingworth Talented and Gifted for Career Day! In her inspiring session, she highlighted the power of education and shared her exciting journey—starting as a secondary education major, becoming a social worker, and ultimately impacting countless lives affected by sickle cell disease. But that’s not all! Dr. Scott also shared how she became an entrepreneur, founding Ohio’s first organization dedicated to improving the transition of care for sickle cell patients from pediatrics to adult care.
