Our Vision: Increased understanding of and engagement with science and technology among all people.
About us
The Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC) is a network of nearly 700 science and technology centers and museums, and allied organizations, engaging more than 110 million people annually across North America and in almost 50 countries. With its members and partners, ASTC works towards a vision of increased understanding of—and engagement with—science and technology among all people. Founded in 1973, ASTC provides a collective voice, professional support, and programming opportunities for science centers, museums, and related institutions. Through strategic alliances and global partnerships, ASTC's goal is to increase awareness of the valuable contributions its members make to their communities and the field of informal STEM learning and public engagement in science.

On Sunday at #ASTC2024, the Alan J. Friedman Science Center Dialogues will tackle two of the most pressing social and scientific issues of our time, with an engaging conversation about the symbiotic relationship between mental health and planetary health. Dr. Kafui Dzirasa (Duke University and Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI)) and Siobhan Starrs (Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History) will discuss opportunities to engage members of the public with research on both mental health and environmental issues in ways that contribute to a culture of hope and action that promotes individual, community, and planetary health. ASTC’s own Dr. Rose Hendricks will moderate. https://lnkd.in/erMWMcZC

ASTC is sad to learn of the recent passing of Lynn Rankin, the founder and longtime Director of the Institute for Inquiry (IFI) at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. A former classroom teacher, Lynn created IFI in 1995 to fill a gap in professional development for K–5 leaders and practitioners of elementary science education. She also helped to establish ASTC’s Professional Development Institutions for museums educators. https://lnkd.in/eauhXwzJ
