Many of us dream of advancing our careers, taking on more responsibilities, learning new things, and increasing our earning potential. But in some cases, climbing the ranks is not what we had expected, forcing us to rethink our priorities and needs. 🤔 Indeed, climbing down the corporate ladder can become a necessity, just as much as progressing one’s career can. Some of the reasons this might happen include: 🔹 When you find yourself out of work: If you can’t find a position that’s the equivalent of your previous one in terms of seniority, you may have to take a step down. 🔹 When you want to change careers: When you have limited experience in your target industry, you may have to climb down a few steps to break into a different field. 🔹 When there is no room for growth: If you work at a small company, positions above you may be filled. You might need to rewind and switch employers, finding a place with greater room for growth. 🌱 🔹 When it no longer feels worth it: If you’re constantly stressed and your work–life balance is suffering, the perks of the job may no longer counteract the negatives. Should you find yourself in any of the above situations, here are some ideas for how you can navigate it: 🔸 Trust yourself: Taking a step down the ladder may feel like you’re giving up something that took years to accomplish, but you must trust that your reasons are valid! 🔸 Try to negotiate a step-down: If you’re happy with your current employer, have an honest conversation with your manager and ask to take on a different role within the company. #CareerAdvice #ProfessionalGrowth #WorkLifeBalance #CareerChange #EmployeeWellbeing #SavageSearchAssociates

The Importance of Respecting Candidates’ Time During the Interview Process In today’s competitive job market, the candidate experience during the interview process is crucial for attracting and retaining top talent. Prolonged hiring processes can lead to frustration and disengagement, ultimately resulting in the loss of high-quality candidates. Here’s why it’s important for prospective employers to streamline their interview process and respect candidates’ time. 1. Candidate Experience Matters A positive candidate experience can enhance your company’s reputation. According to a survey by the Talent Board, candidates who have a positive experience are 38% more likely to accept a job offer and 90% more likely to recommend the company to others . Conversely, a negative experience can deter candidates from considering your organization in the future. 2. Reducing Time-to-Hire is Competitive Advantage Top candidates are often in high demand and may be interviewing with multiple companies simultaneously. A lengthy interview process increases the risk of losing candidates to faster-moving competitors. Glassdoor reports that the average length of the interview process in the U.S. is 23.8 days, and reducing this time can significantly improve your chances of securing the best talent . 3. Demonstrating Respect and Efficiency Respecting candidates’ time by having a concise and efficient interview process demonstrates your company’s respect for their effort and professionalism. This includes promptly scheduling interviews, providing timely feedback, and making swift hiring decisions. Candidates appreciate transparency and efficiency, which reflect positively on your company’s culture and values. 4. Maintaining Engagement and Enthusiasm Prolonged interview processes can lead to candidate fatigue. Extended waiting periods between interview stages or delays in feedback can cause candidates to lose interest or question their fit with the company. By streamlining the process, you maintain candidate engagement and enthusiasm, making them more likely to accept an offer. 5. Saving Resources A shorter interview process is not only beneficial for candidates but also for employers. It saves valuable resources, such as time and money spent on coordinating multiple interview rounds. Efficient processes allow hiring teams to focus on selecting the right candidate rather than getting bogged down in lengthy procedures. In conclusion, a streamlined interview process is essential for attracting and retaining top talent. By respecting candidates’ time, providing timely feedback, and making swift hiring decisions, employers can enhance the candidate experience, maintain engagement, and ultimately secure the best candidates for their organization. #CandidateExperience #HiringProcess #Recruitment #JobInterview #HR #SavageSearchAssoc Jacob Savage Kristina Savage Isabel "Lina" Savage, C.P.C.

Speed Up Your Hiring Process: The Need for HR to Guide and Coach Hiring Managers In today's competitive job market, speed is essential. HR professionals play a critical role in ensuring that hiring processes are efficient and effective. It's time for HR to take the lead in guiding and coaching hiring managers to make prompt hiring decisions. Recent studies show that prolonged hiring processes can lead to significant talent loss. According to Glassdoor, the average hiring process in the U.S. takes 23.8 days. However, in a candidate-driven market, top talent is often off the market within just 10 days (LinkedIn). This discrepancy highlights the urgency for hiring managers to act swiftly. At Savage Search Associates, we believe that HR should actively nudge and guide hiring managers through the decision-making process. Here’s why: 1) Talent Retention: Delays in hiring decisions can result in losing top candidates to faster-moving competitors. HR must coach hiring managers to prioritize decisive action to secure the best talent. 2) Cost Efficiency: Prolonged hiring processes increase recruitment costs. A faster hiring process reduces expenses related to extended job postings and multiple interview rounds (SHRM). 3) Enhanced Candidate Experience: A streamlined hiring process reflects well on the company and enhances the candidate experience. According to CareerBuilder, 68% of candidates believe the way they are treated in the hiring process reflects how the company treats its employees. 4) Market Competitiveness: In a candidate's market, companies with quick and efficient hiring processes have a competitive advantage. HR's role in guiding hiring managers to make timely decisions is crucial for maintaining this edge. HR professionals must empower hiring managers with the tools and strategies to make prompt decisions. Regular training sessions, clear communication channels, and setting defined timelines for each hiring stage are essential steps. At Savage Search Associates, we are committed to helping companies optimize their hiring processes. By working together, HR and hiring managers can ensure that their organization attracts and retains the best talent in the market. #Hiring #HR #Recruitment #TalentManagement #SavageSearchAssociates
