Update from Asheville. Since opening our doors, community building has been a central theme at Sauna House, driving many of our biggest decisions. This week, community has meant problem-solving with newly formed friends in unconventional ways. It's meant turning individual challenges into shared victories and helping others feel just a little less vulnerable when things are uncertain. Our Sauna House Durham team just brought down water, gas, diesel, and portable cooking stoves with fuel to help reach the more rural parts of Asheville and the surrounding areas. We have team members in Asheville doing their best to help the community. If you are looking to help out: World Central Kitchen has been feeding neighbors on the ground here in Asheville, delivering prepared meals to the community and via helicopter to areas that do not have road access. BeLoved Asheville is another great organization working selflessly to provide food, water, and supplies to neighbors in need. In Durham, we will be launching a mobile sauna pop-up and cold plunge where you can support our organization and drop off needed products and we will work with our team and partners to ensure they get delivered to those in need. Construction progress is coming along nicely at Sauna House in Bonita Springs, Florida. 🏡🚧 Check out Sauna House owner Robert Sorenson, PhD, CSCS, CSPS touring the impressive 4503 sq. ft. bathhouse in downtown Bonita Springs. The underground plumbing is officially complete, and we’re moving on to shaping the walls and electrical work. All furniture and fixtures have also been ordered. Our communal sauna measures 19x11, making it large enough for up to 30 people. It will be an amazing communal sauna experience. This is a construction term that focuses on repurposing existing buildings while maintaining their historical and architectural integrity, rather than demolishing them and starting from scratch. This process is awesome for the environment, community, and overall vibes. 🌱 For the Environment: Repurposing old buildings both reduces waste generated from demolishing old buildings as well as the need for raw materials required to build something new. 🌎 For the Community: Breathing new life into structures that have been around for almost 100 years maintains the history of these neighborhoods and revitalizes the charm that made cities what they are today! ✨ For the Vibes: They just don’t make ‘em like they used to. Despite the heat and humidity, we had two days of sold-out sauna and cold plunge sessions. At Sauna House, we are passionate about building community and giving back. As a 1% for the Planet member, we support organizations like the Eno River Association, an accredited land trust and conservation nonprofit dedicated to conserving and protecting the natural, historical, and cultural resources of the Eno River Basin. Recently, we held our first mobile sauna activation in Durham, North Carolina, during the Festival for the Eno. We offered free sauna and cold plunge sessions to the community while supporting a great cause. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with our community members before our Durham bathhouse opens this September.
