Study finds "opportunity gap" between rich and poor children can come down to just 6️⃣ missed chances. The authors say this opportunity gap appears to be a more powerful predictor of future educational attainment and earnings than childhood poverty alone. Read from The Hechinger Report:

It’s like looking in a mirror. 🪞 Check out the joint attention between this little one (10 weeks) and her big brother - who’s teaching an absolute master class in how to stimulate baby’s brain. I mean, are these two locked in or what? Brother is at baby’s level, up close, face-to-face and grinning from ear to ear. Their eye contact is unbroken. No distractions… just them. And he’s mirroring her vocalizations in a way that’s obviously thrilling for baby. Look at her face light up. It’s a great reminder that parents aren’t the only ones who can engage in serve and return interactions. Just beautiful. This sweet duo was shared to TT by gillianmccreery. #earlychildhood #earlyyears #eyfs #parenting

📕Check out the new top-seller #TheDaycareMyth: https://amzn.to/3zyxZdN
Dan Wuori has delighted many of us with his care- and learning-filled videos and messages for months. His inaugural book - « The Daycare Myth » arrived yesterday, and I simply could not put it down: Filled with science and practical recommendations. Chapter 1 starts with a cliffhanger « daycare does not exist . » This sentence sentence hit home: « For young children, all environments are learning environments- which is why the Daycare Myth is so pernicious. » Appendix A is critical too about the dangers of misinterpreting early childhood research. Bravo, dear friend. A must-read for anyone interested in (early) development and education, and society at large. Great foreword by Dana Suskind and highlights of Saul Zaentz Charitable Foundation.
