We are excited to share with you that our District launched new SMUHSD and School Websites earlier today. Our previous web provider Blackboard was recently acquired by Finalsite. With the adoption of our new District logo by our Board of Trustees on May 23, the timing was perfect to migrate our content to the new provider over the summer. This also gave our District the opportunity to add additional school websites for the Bridge Academy and Middle College. Finalsite is used by several of our partner Districts and by schools and districts across the Bay Area, California and the country. Finalsite is known for improved accessibility features, functionality and a better user experience including on mobile devices. The new site provides translation of an unlimited number of languages to provide a better experience for multilingual visitors to our site. While the internal navigation of our sites will remain relatively similar to their previous navigation, here are a few tips to help you navigate the site. “I want to” is now Quick Links - This can be found at the top of the District and School websites and includes links to the School Year Calendar, Facility Rentals, Registering for School, Reporting a Safety Concern, Careers, Staff Login and more. The Enrollment Button is located at the top right hand corner of District and all school home pages. This takes you to the Student Services page. Board Agenda & Minutes are located at the top and center of the District’s and all school homepages. Student Nutrition - Click the Student Nutrition icon in the Learn More Section of District and School web pages. (It can also be found in the Quick Links drop down menu and where it was located previously in the Departments section of the navigation.) Our District (www.smuhsd.org) and San Mateo Adult & Career Education (www.sanmateoadulted.org) sites addresses remain the same, but school website URLs have changed: Aragon - ahs.smuhsd.org Bridge Academy - bridge.smuhsd.org Burlingame - bhs.smuhsd.org Capuchino - chs.smuhsd.org Hillsdale - hhs.smuhsd.org Middle College - middlecollege.smuhsd.org Mills - mhs.smuhsd.org Peninsula - phs.smuhsd.org San Mateo - smhs.smuhsd.org San Mateo Career and Adult Education (SMACE) - sanmateoadulted.org - this URL remains the same. This site is maintained by SMACE and is not hosted by the Finalsite platform, but will still be linked on the District’s website. We believe that the launch of our new website provides a more powerful communication tool with ease of navigation for our community. We will continue working over the coming months to make additional improvements. Let us know if you find a bug, have trouble finding content, or you have suggestions on how we can improve by emailing [email protected].

Check out the article by Ana M. in today's (June 14) San Mateo Daily Journal about Hillsdale High School SMUHSD High School's Drive Thru Food Pantry, Community Garden and Community Closet. A helping hand at Hillsdale High School: School provides wraparound services to students, families "Every Friday, a parking lot at Hillsdale High School transforms into a hub of mutual aid resources through its food pantry drive-thru, community garden and closet, helping students and families meet their basic needs. Led by volunteers with the school’s Empowerment Through Action program, this weekly effort provides additional wraparound services to the families of students identified as at-risk of not graduating high school. Through extracurriculars offered such as after-school sports, exposure to the arts, readily available tutoring and more, ETA hopes to establish a sense of belonging among its targeted demographic. Rachel Lauderdale, co-executive director of the program, said most of the students involved are first generation and many are multilanguage learners." https://lnkd.in/gmQ9Kw_Y

More than 120 certificated educators attended the June 4-5 Professional Development event "Humanizing Pedagogy" at Skyline College. The event was organized by the District's Instructional Lead Team and the purpose of the PD was to bring together educators to learn about Humanizing Pedagogy - the anchor for our new instructional framework. Andratesha Fritzgerald, author of Antiracism and Universal Design for Learning: Building Expressways to Success, was the keynote speaker. Andratesha Fritzgerald has served extensively in education as a teacher, curriculum specialist, administrator, and director. As an international speaker, presenter, and facilitator, Fritzgerald exhibits an audacious perseverance that calls organizations to evolve into inclusive antiracist safe zones for all learners. Over the course of two days, SMUHSD educators learned about and developed materials they will be able to use this Fall 2024!
