We are a collaborative partnership working to protect and restore the San Francisco Bay-Delta Estuary.
About us
The San Francisco Estuary Partnership was established in 1988 by the State of California and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under the Clean Water Act’s National Estuary Program when the San Francisco Estuary was designated as an estuary of national significance. The Partnership is a collaboration of local, state, and federal agencies, NGOs, academia and business leaders working to protect and restore the San Francisco Bay-Delta Estuary. The Partnership’s work is guided by the development and implementation of the Estuary Blueprint, a comprehensive, collective vision for the Estuary’s future.

"Even though we are in different places, we suffer from the same issues. Hearing issues from youth of other communities has opened the door for what we can do together!" - Deborah Castillo, Estuary Youth Council Alumni 2024. Deborah is now interning with Restore the Delta, a non-profit based in her home of Stockton, California focusing on education, policy development, and awareness of the Bay-Delta. More specifically, Deborah is focusing on water testing for areas surrounding the San Joaquin Delta and researching harmful algal blooms (HABs) and how they are affecting community health. Deborah shared that the Estuary Youth Council helped ignite her interest in environmental justice through learning how the Delta plays a huge role for wildlife and community recreation. She now shares her knowledge of the Delta with her community members: “This is what we are finding, if this happens, the things you love to do in the Delta will be impacted. You will be impacted the most.” - Deborah Castillo, Estuary Youth Council Alumni 2024." Want to learn more about the Estuary Youth Council?
