What a community the #PNW Climate Week has brought us. From Portland, OR to Vancouver, Canada - philanthropists, employers, innovators, sustainability advocates, activists, and more came together for team #earth.
I spent most of this week attending Seattle’s Bloomberg #greenfestival and supporting Sustainability Ambassadors’s #greenjobsinstitute and had a great time hearing from thought leaders across our local community and the globe stage 🌎
Some key moments include
🌱 Witnessing how invested the #climateworkforce and their support network are in building a sustainable future together
🤝 Understanding how forward and long-term thinking #greeneconomy partnerships are rooted between local government, policy, private enterprise, and innovation
🏃♂️➡️ Helping raise $30,000 for the Seattle Parks Foundation by running in this year’s Bloomberg Green Festival Square Mile Relay at Myrtle Edwards Park
My favorite – learning from some of the youngest thought leaders in this space – Xiye Bastida and Jerome Foster II. Investing in diversity of thought is necessary for any future we live in.
I must admit that when working towards building an inclusive #futureworkforce, I have forgotten to look inward. Not in terms of the past, but in terms of the next-gen leaders who are speaking for a future they want/building towards. Thank you for the lesson to listen back and that mentorship is two-way.
“Mentorship should be two-sided. With one hand reaching out to the youth and, the other, an elder..” ~ Xiye Bastida
Anyways, this was great. I expect next year to be even better
