World Hepatitis Day is a global campaign and initiative that aims to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat by 2030 through vaccination, testing, and treating people living with viral hepatitis. This year’s theme is “It’s time for action.” Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eN-nzTjP Since 2021, RWJBarnabas Health partner hospitals, including Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, and Jersey City Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital of Rahway and Somerset together have conducted 220,000 HCV and 96,700 HBV screenings with 1,388 HCV and 756 HBV positive patients identified. Patient navigators provide these patients with linkage to follow up care and navigation services throughout the RWJBarnabas Health system. Today, RWJBarnabas Health experienced an unexpected global Microsoft outage that, if not managed aggressively and effectively, could have caused significant disruption to the health system. While we continue to work through technical issues, normal operations have resumed across the system. The ingenuity and teamwork demonstrated by RWJBarnabas Health’s workforce was exemplary. Led by the system’s Information Technology Department and Office of Emergency Management, their tireless efforts to resolve issues quickly and efficiently were critical in maintaining patient safety during a time of uncertainty. We thank our patients and community members for their patience and support, and commend our employees for their unwavering dedication and commitment. #LetsBeHealthyTogether

Some systems at RWJBarnabas Health have been impacted by the Global Microsoft outage. This is not a cyberattack. Our teams are working to remediate the issue as soon as possible. As always, patient safety is our highest priority. Out of an abundance of caution, we are delaying some scheduled procedures until this situation is resolved and will share updates as they are available.
