The solutions that work for some communities don’t work for all of them. That’s why we exist.
About us
Rutgers Equity Alliance for Community Health (REACH) is a new initiative to improve the health and quality of life in three New Jersey cities facing food insecurity, high unemployment, low high school graduation rates, and shrinking household incomes. REACH bridges the invaluable wisdom of lived experience by bringing together community-based organizations with the rigorous research of university researchers, faculty, staff, and students. While research has been done for decades looking at social determinants of health, there is still a tremendous gap between what we know academically and what is happening in communities. The goal of REACH is to close that gap.

Friday Funding Opportunity Feature! Eviction Protection Grant Program (HUD FR-6800-N-79) The REACH team continually seeks avenues of support for the important work of its partner organizations. The opportunities listed here have been carefully curated with these partners in mind, and the list will be updated regularly to reflect the current funding landscape. These public and private funders share a concern for equity, though they may have a particular interest in any of REACH’s focus areas: education, employment, food access/security, housing, or population health. Grant details: Programs providing no-cost legal assistance to low-income tenants at risk or subject to eviction are supported through this program. Additionally, projects will expand the evidence base around eviction prevention and diversion programming, by reporting information about tenants served, legal assistance services provided, outcomes achieved, and milestones reached, and collaborative activities. Applications due August 20, 2024 View this opportunity and more: https://lnkd.in/eUz377HJ #fundingopportunity #grantapplications #grantfunding #grantopportunity #evictionprotection #housingequity #sdoh

#TaylorSwift is sparking debate over whether her generous contributions are "eradicating food poverty" or if a different approach would address the root causes. #foodsecurity #foodpoverty #socialdeterminantsofhealth #sdoh
Partner Employment Law, Burlingtons LLP | Employment law commentator for Raconteur, Sunday Times, FT, BBC and Sky.
You may have read that Taylor Swift has donated enough money to cover the food bills for an entire year across 11 food banks and 8 community pantries in Liverpool. She has however done this for every city she's toured in. Making her the worlds largest contributor to eradicating food poverty per capita. Way to go.

On Friday, the Supreme Court ruled that officials can criminalize sleeping and camping on public property including parks, even when housing options are unavailable or unaffordable, a 6-3 decision in #CityofGrantsPass, #Oregonv.Johnson. "We are incredibly disappointed and we're worried about how quickly some communities will move to enact local ordinances that are now legal under this ruling," said Ann Oliva, CEO of the National Alliance to End Homelessness. We cannot arrest our way out of homelessness. https://lnkd.in/ewcNCuVz #housingequality #housingcrisis #homelessnessisnotacrime #sdoh #grantspass #newlegislation #healthequity #housingforall
