📽 Running Remote 2024 recording: keynote by Annie Dean, VP, Team Anywhere at Atlassian 🔥 With over a decade of experience in remote work, Annie shared data-driven insights on why distributed work is not only effective but essential for the future of work. Her session shed light on the misconceptions about RTO and provided a roadmap for thriving in a distributed work environment. CEOs believe that RTO is necessary to solve productivity issues. However, Annie argued that flexibility and productivity are not mutually exclusive. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eXUGDZkN

🌍 Time zones suck! If you've ever managed a virtual #community or #remoteteam, you know the time zone struggle is real. 🤯 The Running Remote community is intentionally small yet incredibly diverse, with members from all over the globe! 🌈 🌏 Most of our members are in the US and Europe, but we also have amazing folks in APAC who often feel isolated, as highlighted in our latest Pulse Check survey. So when Aakash Gupta asked how he could contribute, I immediately thought of a local virtual meetup for the APAC region. And he made it happen this week for which I'm extremely grateful! A bunch of great people showed up, connected, and now plans to meet monthly, recap events from other time zones, and learn together. Huge thanks to Hilary Callaghan for leading this initiative! How cool is that? This is community co-creation in action. 💪 #CommunityBuilding #RemoteWork #CoCreation

A big shout-out to Antonio Arias for sharing his wisdom in our latest #remotetribe spotlight! Antonio, the COO of QuoIntelligence - Europe's Threat Intel company, leads a fully remote team of 40 people, and this week he's dropping some serious knowledge on remote management. In this short interview, he shares: ☑ A tool that helps them identify hidden issues and have health checks of teams asynchronously ☑ Trends in remote/distributed industry he is most excited about ☑ Advice he'd give to someone transitioning from managing a co-located team to a fully remote one Apart from all things remote, Antonio is passionate about finance and Talent Acquisition (he spent 12 years in TA!) and generously shares all he knows on those topics in the community. He's also part of one of the masterminds for founders we host, along with Milana Martinovic, Lavinia Yosub (Iosub), Adib Bamieh 🇵🇸, Tim Burgess, Fadi Boulos, Lorraine Charles, Kaisa Sorjonen and 🔥 Bridget Harris, bringing great value with his insights and experience. Thank you, Antonio, for your generosity and openness. We're grateful to have you onboard. 🌟 #remote #community

Build coherent distributed teams • theCoRD.ai • Systemic team coach with a crush on AI

Back in April 2024, as guest speaker on stage at Running Remote we were saying that "AI is the biggest story of our generation." Well, it turns out that we still have a lot of challenges to overcome in making things fair and inclusive for all. Currently only 22% of AI employees globally are female, leaving a gender and skills gap which is all too common in tech sectors. According to a recent study conducted by Women Go Tech supported by Google Org. and the OSCE, women (in CEE) are still being held back from the #AI revolution. With data drawn from over 5,400 women across 13 countries, the study reveals a stark reality about the gender gap in AI usage and confidence in tech skills. Here's my take on the data and how we can start to improve (and definitely) change the ratio for better future work systems. 💯 Delve deeper in the latest edition of #theCoRDConnection newsletter. More detailed findings: https://lnkd.in/eFTh92x6 #theCoRD #theCoRDConnection #FutureisFemale

The future (of AI) is also female

I want to share a valuable resource I've been leveraging for the past few years: a community called Running Remote. Each month, I participate in a facilitated conversation with other C-level leaders to discuss various business issues relevant to remote leaders. The group also has a Slack group where I can collaborate with any of them (as well as others in the broader Running Remote community) in real-time. Through this group, I've found mentors, resources, and trusted friends. Running Remote also facilitates groups for other levels of leadership for companies of all sizes and geos. It's a great community and resource. There's a link in the comments for anyone interested in learning more. #mentorship #leadership #runningremote #remotework

This year's conference badges were made from wood-free cotton scrap paper embedded with marigold seeds, while the lanyards were made of cotton, both produced using solar energy. ☀ All you had to do was tear the paper into small pieces, plant it in soil, and give it water and sunshine to watch it grow, just like Fadi Boulos did. Has anyone else tried it? Share your marigolds with us! 🌼 Thank you Rachel Yenko-Martinka for implementing this wonderful idea!

Providing tech startups with top Lebanese engineers while reducing the brain drain in Lebanon

This is not a plant. It's a conference badge. When I went home after the Running Remote conference, I saw that the badge had instructions on its back. It was a biodegradable badge. All I had to do was to tear it into small pieces, plant it, and water it frequently. The outcome is this nice green plant. Love the genius idea, Kasia Triantafelo and Egor Borushko!

HR Leader / Agile Change Enabler / Startupper

This year, I had the pleasure of joining the Running Remote Community – a network of experienced founders and People Ops executives building and scaling remote and distributed companies. I couldn’t recommend it more. 👐 This community has proven to be not only generous and practical but also like a second team I can rely on 👐 Connecting with like-minded professionals has played a crucial role in shaping my experience so far. The high-quality, firsthand advice from those who have faced similar challenges – whether it's transitioning to async work, organizing retreats, managing remote onboarding, or handling change management – along with intimate peer-to-peer masterminds and valuable one-on-one connections with members facing similar obstacles, are immensely beneficial for Company like us who are building and scaling remote and distributed organizations. Plus, the annual Conference is amazing!!! If you are a People Ops executive at a remote or distributed company, a founder, or a Head of Remote/People Experience, I highly recommend exploring what the community has to offer!

How would you describe the community you're part of in just three words? I recently conducted our first Community Pulse Check survey, asking members to describe the Running Remote community in just three words. We received 81 unique words describing our community but here are the most common themes that emerged: 🌟 Supportive & Helpful 🌟 Friendly & Welcoming 🌟 Open & Inclusive 🌟 Insightful & Knowledgeable 🌟 Active & Engaged Additionally, some words that truly capture the essence of our community include: safe, passionate, encouraging, genuine, accessible, caring, experienced, and thoughtful. What a fun and enlightening experiment this was! It will be incredibly useful as we gear up to collaboratively define our community values with all our members! How have you worked on establishing your community values? I’d love to hear your experiences. #communitybuilding #values

Last week I had the great opportunity to be the ask-me-anything'er for Running Remote - this space gives people the opportunity to ask questions to remote leaders, get advice on topics they are challenged by and share learnings 🧗♀️. I was happy to answer questions about diversity, inclusivity, engagement, ops, building and leading a People team, and handling policies/legalities across 60 countries across the world 🌎. I can't recommend Running Remote enough, I am part of many People related communities and love tapping into a network of talent and knowledge, but Running Remote is always the first one I go to! What I love about Running Remote is; ❤️ Kasia Triantafelo - Kasia is always available to help and goes out of her way to get the community engaged 🧠 People Ops Mastermind - I am part of a group of People leaders within RR who meet every month to discuss a topic or challenge 🗄️ Notion documentation - A number of great, leading remote companies have shared their workings and guidance 🚀 RR Conference - Each year there is a conference where RR members meet up and discuss remote work, and hear from leaders in the community  🤗 Kindness - Genuinely everyone is kind, welcoming and ready to share their knowledge!
