    𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐭 2,000 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 🏔️🚠 In the Val Senales glacier ski area in South Tyrol, a lift takes skiers to over 3,000 meters above sea level. For the renovation of the valley station and the addition of a restaurant 🍽️, we manufacture and deliver the timber construction elements. 🌲 For the wooden cladding and the roof structure of the restaurant, a total of 299 elements were prefabricated in our factory. 🏭 In this special case, the prefabrication has among others two main advantages: quick assembly ⏱️ and weather independence ☔. The longest glued laminated timber panel measures approximately 18 meters. 📏 The roof structure of the restaurant must meet special fire protection requirements (fire protection class R30). 🔥 We implement this with glued laminated timber panels made of spruce 🌲, which, thanks to special fire protection coating, offer the necessary high safety. 🛡️ For the wooden cladding, we worked closely with Metall Ritten 🏗️, who manufactured the steel substructure and with whom we designed the wood-steel connections.     𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐢𝐭𝐞: 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 🏗️🌲 On our construction site in Munich, an exciting detail can currently be observed: For the ceilings, we are combining timber and concrete. During the prefabrication, we milled notches for shear transfer into the cross-laminated timber ceiling. Once the timber ceilings are fully installed and reinforcement is laid, the concrete is poured. The concrete flows into the notches, creating a form-fit connection between the timber and concrete. 🔨🧱 There are good reasons to use timber concrete composite ceilings – here are three: 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 🌍: We are incorporating more renewable raw materials into residential construction. In this case, spruce wood from our own sawmill in Austria helps us to reduce the carbon footprint. 🌲💚 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 🎶: The concrete adds mass, timber cushions, which helps to prevent the transmission of vibrational sound. The result is good sound insulation properties with minimal component weight. 🔇✨ 𝐀𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 🏡: The wooden undersight of the ceiling makes the rooms feel more homey. 🌟 We have prefabricated a total of 5,865 m² of cross-laminated timber ceilings, installed them on-site, and carried out the in-situ concrete work.     𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 720 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐚 🏟️ In Šentjernej, Slovenia, a new sports hall is being built for the elementary school 🏫, which can also be used by the municipality as a hall for national sports competitions 🏆, cultural events 🎭, and celebrations 🎉. The new hall has been designed for a total of 720 people. The two floors are staggered, creating niches for referees foul, storage rooms, and additional stands 🪑. The first floor is directly connected to the school building via the entrance hall, the second floor via the gymnasium and a bridge connection above 🌉. Separate entrances will be created for non-school use. We will prefabricate the timber roof construction with roof elements 🌲 as well as the timber supports for the sports hall and for the connecting corridors in Ober-Grafendorf. Around 220m³ of glulam and around 1,900 m² of roof elements, including 70m³ of solid structural timber, will be used for this 🪵. We will meet both the fire protection requirements (R30/REI30) 🔥. Assembly is scheduled to start in November 2024 📅. We will report on the prefabrication and the upcoming construction phases 🏗️. It’s not just about maintaining existing structures but also about creating new spaces for our children to thrive. Our unique approach to executing large-scale timber engineering projects was at the forefront of this event. 🌍💚 During our tour, we highlighted 5 remarkable projects, each explained by their architects on-site, providing an up-close experience of cutting-edge construction: 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐟 49: 42 energy-efficient terraced houses create a vibrant community on the site of a former public housing estate, featuring serialized external wall elements that significantly reduce running costs and CO2 emissions. 🏡💡 𝐖𝐀𝐇 𝐇𝐨𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫: This project includes 162 new flats in timber and hybrid construction, marking a strong commitment to fast, subsidized housing. Eight residential buildings form a modern cluster, catering to shared living, caregiving communities, and large families with a notable use of renewable materials. 🏘️🌱 𝐋𝐊𝐌 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫: Featuring 730 safe sleeping places, this facility provides counselling, medical care, and a day centre for those in need, all while showcasing high aesthetic standards with an attractive wooden façade. 🛌🏽❤️ 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐥𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚ß𝐞: A contemporary learning environment for 900 students, this school demonstrates the potential of timber construction in educational settings, with robust furniture and oak post-and-beam façades creating dynamic learning spaces. 📚🏫 𝐓𝐔𝐌 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐥𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤: One of Europe's largest timber construction projects, this campus features a stunning 153-meter timber roof that cantilevers over the tartan track—a true marvel of timber engineering. 🏟️🌟 Each project reflects our dedication to intelligent and resource-efficient use of wood.
