Congratulations to the Orange County Regional Consortium and all the partners for organizing such an important and timely conference.
This week, leaders of the Orange County region came together to devise an action plan related to AI implementation and integration. This unique convening of urgency gathered K12, higher education, workforce development, city officials, and small businesses. Collaboratively, we discussed and shared concrete strategies to inform, train, and increase access to the new AI revolution. 💡Some of these strategies or action items shared are: retrofitting college and community center computer labs to update current equipment compatible to the usage of AI technology, solidifying common standards for AI Curriculum with the perspective of small businesses and the community, identifying funding streams to assist with development and implementation strategies like Strong Workforce and National Science Foundation, and the establishment of an AI Expert Committee to facilitate continuous research and provide on-going professional development to all stakeholders. 🫱🏾🫲🏼 Overall, this was an event of information sharing, brainstorming, and primarily of action. Now a few stakeholder partners and myself will gather the information shared and provide a report of our findings that will concretely define the regional action items for the 2024-2025 academic year. Updates to follow shortly! 🙏🏾 Special thank you to Roger Lloyd, Adriene "Alex" Davis, Ed.D., Jeannie Mitsch, Ed.D, Rick Hodge, Gary Graves, Neil Sahota, Craig Hayward, and many other regional leaders who made this gathering a success. #AI #workforcedevelopment #collaboration #communitycollege #education #leadership

Thank you, Congresswoman Young Kim, for coming to Santiago Canyon College and for your support and commitment to our students and the community.
United States Congresswoman Young Kim (CA-40) visited Santiago Canyon College to recognize SCC's International Student Center on receiving an Export Achievement Certificate from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The recognition from the Dept of Commerce is for developing partnerships and business in the export markets of Brazil, Colombia and India, as well as the impact SCC makes on education service exports through our international student recruitment efforts. This honor is typically given to American companies and not often given to educational institutions. #whathappensherematters #internationalstudents #recognition

We've just achieved a significant milestone: headcount enrollment exceeded 100,000 students during the 2023/24 academic year. What an incredible job of our faculty and staff to rebound after 2020/21 pandemic year when we were under 75,000 students. According to Enrique Perez, Vice Chancellor of Educational Services, "Exceeding 100,000 students is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of our colleges. As we celebrate this milestone, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering student success and serving as a catalyst for community development and economic growth.”
