We were thrilled to welcome Congressman Derrick Van Orden to the Food Farm Exploration Center in Plover, WI. A former Navy SEAL and current representative of Wisconsin’s 3rd congressional district, the Congressman joined us for a pivotal discussion on the future of agriculture in our region. Together, we explored dynamic ways to bolster our local potato farmers and propel agricultural practices into a new era. How can we continue to innovate in ways that benefit both our farms and our community? RPE, established in 1971, is in its 53rd year of operation. Back then, the Sales & Marketing division of the family-owned and -operated company was known as Wysocki Sales. Later, the name was changed to RPE. A lot has changed but the one constant for 30 years has been the man at the helm: Russell Wysocki, chief executive and a second generation owner-operator. With a clear vision, boundless energy, eternal optimism and too many great partnerships to mention in a single LinkedIn post, Russell led an ever-expanding team to grow the business and cultivate a familial workplace culture, always with a collective sense of togetherness. Earlier this week RPE team members assembled in central Wisconsin for a Fall Gathering coinciding with harvest. Sandwiched in between lots of networking and team-building activities was a program to recognize and honor the man who has been showing and leading the way for more than three decades. Thank you, Russell, for your mentorship and guidance. The opportunities you provided to countless individuals were felt by families and communities near and far as each team member contributed in their own unique way to a growing and – ultimately – thriving business. RPE, LLC may be a fully remote, virtual workforce, but we still manage to escape our screens and meet up in the real world every now and then. This week, a group of five Idaho locals hosted two out-of-state colleagues in Blackfoot, Idaho. What was on the agenda? You know, just casual things like meeting with grower partners, checking out the potato crops, and watching the magic of harvest, storage, and packing in action.
