Rocky Mountain Power was thrilled to participate in the South Davis Preparedness Fair earlier this month! This #NationalHydroDay, Rocky Mountain Power celebrates our enduring legacy in hydropower innovation. Our history dates back to 1895, when the 1-megawatt Stairs Hydro Plant became the first hydroelectric power station to supply Salt Lake City with alternating current (AC) electricity for long-distance power transmission. Today, our facilities, including Bear River and Bigfork, collectively generate 96 MW of emission-free energy, contributing to cleaner communities, local job creation, and a reliable electricity grid. These projects not only power homes but also enhance recreational opportunities and support wildlife habitats. #HydroDay

Last week, community members, retired power plant workers, their families, and state officials gathered in Price, Utah, for the dedication of the retired turbine from the Huntington Power Plant. From 1976 to 1998, this turbine was crucial in supplying power to homes and businesses across the region, generating up to 3.6 million megawatt-hours of electricity.
