Meet Richie Faulkner aka Falcon, guitarist for Judas Priest and aortic dissection survivor. We had a lovely private chat before the show, talking about heart stuff and rock and roll. Thank you for the invite, Richie and Jayne! *Three years ago, Richie suffered an aortic dissection while onstage. Fortunately, he was minutes away from UofL and was diagnosed quickly. Richie had a 10.5 hour life saving surgery to repair his aorta and replace his aortic valve. We are so glad that you are still rockin' from the heart with us! <3. We invite you to join Rock from the Heart on February 21-22 in St. Paul MN for the Aortic Ed Sessions, Community Heart Screening, and Benefit concert. www.rockfromtheheart.org Aortic disease typically has no symptoms and goes undiagnosed far too often. Awareness saves lives. Know your family history and listen to your heart. *Aortic dissection is life-threatening. About 40% of patients die immediately from complete rupture and bleeding out from the aorta. The risk of dying can be as high as 1% to 3% per hour until the patient gets treatment. About us
Rock from the Heart (RFTH) is an incorporated organization formed after its founder, Pete Johnson, survived aortic aneurysm and aortic valve replacement surgery. The purpose of the organization is to support heart disease education and awareness programs with a primary focus on aortic health. RFTH also supports programs and organizations working to bring high quality cardiovascular care to rural communities and smaller hospitals. RFTH works to develop resources designed to improve the diagnosis, treatment and management of aortic disease by advocating for early detection, meaningful support, and timely access to appropriate treatment for all people affected. RFTH hosts events that bring aortic disease issues to the forefront. RFTH is committed to increasing public awareness of the factors that put people at risk for aortic disease and to improving the diagnosis and management of these life-threatening conditions.

Late 2018 I had a PA in an Urgent Care mention that I had a murmur and that I should get it checked out. I promptly went to my primary care who assured me that I was fine.
