This week is national volunteer week! This week, we will be highlighting a few of our amazing volunteers, as well as fun and one-of-a-kind opportunities for you to get more involved with Rock Recovery and our mission to break down the barriers to mental health treatment. To start off this week, we’re highlighting Phil Shaheen, one of our incredible board members and volunteers. We asked Phil what inspired him to first get involved with Rock Recovery. Here’s what he had to say: “As a board member at Rock Recovery, I am deeply passionate about fostering a supportive environment for individuals battling eating disorders. My personal journey and dedication to mental health advocacy drive me to contribute my expertise and resources to further our organization's mission of healing and empowerment. Together, we can continue to innovate and provide vital resources to those in need, promoting resilience and recovery within our community.” We are so grateful for our community, and the people who tirelessly support us behind the scenes! We are currently accepting new clients in our outpatient eating disorder therapy groups. We offer virtual meal support and body image therapy groups to residents of DC, MD & VA. These groups are a great addition to individual therapy and a great resource for those stepping down from higher level of care. As a nonprofit that is passionate about breaking down barriers to treatment, we accept CareFirst BCBS insurance and offer significant sliding scale to anyone OON.
