In August, our employees took part in a school supply drive. We delivered the supplies to local schools where students who needed them were enrolled. This year, we donated supplies to Huntington Middle School and Guyandotte Elementary. We loved getting to meet with the principals, counselors and teachers at these schools and are so glad we were able to help our schools and community!

We can help children struggling with their mental health. To find out if a child you know can benefit from our services, call 304-526-9105 and speak to an assessment RN. Help may be just a phone call away for a child in need!

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Dr. Samuel Januszkiewicz. He has served River Park Hospital in one capacity or another for the past 38 years. “Dr. Sam” started at River Park Hospital in 1986; since then he has worked to improve the lives of countless patients. He has provided care and compassion to our geriatric population and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the past 10 years. He has graciously agreed to continue his service by remaining on the Board of Directors after his retirement on September 7. "Dr. Sam” plans to spend the next chapter of his life traveling, doing some home improvement projects and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Please join us in celebrating and thanking “Dr. Sam” Januszkiewicz for his many years of service and leadership!

Getting to do fun activities during the summer is something everyone looks forward to. Our residential kids had several fun trips this summer including getting out of the hospital to enjoy weekly trips to the movies. Seeing movies like Minions, Despicable Me 4, Inside Out 2, Sonic the Hedgehog, The Iron Giant, Paw Patrol and several more. We have one more trip to the movies left as we wrap up our summer activities. We had so much fun taking the kids out and are already looking forward to doing it again next year!

We participated for the first time at the Shenandoah Valley CSA Training and Resource Day located on the campus of James Madison University. We were among numerous vendors from across the state of Virginia to help build a network of resources to aid the surrounding counties with information and available resources for kiddos in crisis, and adults and geriatrics needing help. Our giveaway winner was Kelly R. Congratulations, Kelly!

In mid-July, we honored many of our employees with years of service awards. From five years of service to Lisa G. with 25 years, we are thankful for our employee's loyalty and commitment to the hospital and our patients. We also celebrated the Service Excellence Quarterly champion, Anna B. and two De-escalation Champions, Jerome J. and William S. Congratulations to all the winners!
