Architectural Digest features the Woolf Residence, an iconic home that epitomizes modernism and celebrates the unexpected. RIOS Creative Director and Partner Mark Rios and Guy Ringler, a renowned reproductive endocrinologist, lived in the Bel Air neighborhood for many years and once it came on the market it was an opportunity for them to play an active role in curating and reimagining the residence as their home and gathering space for friends and family. The renovated home honors the original design by John Elgin Woolf, a renowned architect who played a pivotal role in shaping Hollywood and the Los Angeles gay community from the 1950s to the 1970s. By blending modern updates with classic design elements, the home is enriched with delightful collections, pops of color, and intentional visual connections. This fusion of Woolf's history with the couple's commitment to authenticity and joy creates harmony and inspiration in everyday living. From bold interior selections to stylish hubs for entertaining, the Woolf Residence carries a continuous spirit of surprise and optimism throughout the home. RIOS is collaborating with the City and County of Denver (DPR and DOTI), Downtown Denver Partnership, and other stakeholders to revitalize three blocks of Denver's downtown Skyline Park. The visioning process aims to reimagine Skyline Park into a welcoming and inclusive space that encapsulates Denver's vibrant spirit with the goal of creating a dynamic, inviting space for both visitors and residents, and establishing the park as a cultural destination within the city. The first phase of revitalizing this vision, Block 2, will focus on creating a vibrant plaza that incorporates elements honoring Colorado's landscape and Lawrence Halprin's original design from the 1960s Urban Renewal era. The plan addresses the park's challenges by integrating its historical landmarks and modern additions. It also aims to enliven downtown with new amenities such as a water feature and stage pavilion. The reimagined Skyline Park will feature more accessible, unobstructed views by removing barriers like stairways and walls, and adding green spaces for community activities. The future vision for the United Center, reimagined by RIOS in collaboration with the United Center Joint Venture group, is a catalytic development for Chicago's West Side and a world-class destination for all of Chicago. Known as The 1901 Project, the multi-phased project is part of a planned $7 billion redevelopment of the areas surrounding the United Center. The 1901 Project will transform the West Side, bridging neighborhoods and enhancing opportunities for residents, businesses, and the entire city. This mixed-used development will include housing, retail, entertainment, parking, and public open space on over 55 acres of privately owned land surrounding the iconic United Center arena. Aspiring to be an emblem of urban charisma and cultural richness, the neighborhood will be activated year-round as a destination to live, work, and play. "Our goal with the The 1901 Project master plan is to provide an urban canvas, rich with public spaces and diverse program, for the legacy of the existing neighborhood to write its own new chapter." — Richard Peterson, RA, Senior Project Director, Architect, RIOS To learn more about The 1901 Project, read The Architect's Newspaper's article linked below. https://lnkd.in/gsb4QJiF Collaborators: Client: United Center Joint Venture Master Planner: RIOS Phase 1 Architect: RIOS Landscape Designer: Field Operations Landscape AOR: site design group, ltd.
