Say hello to our Swedish pilot: Flexibility from batteries and smart heat & power production planning The Swedish pilot has a two-fold aim: One is to enable people to exploit the flexibility resourced from their PV and battery storage system, and this part of the pilot is managed by CheckWatt. The second goal is to develop a smart district heating network based on increased data knowledge and flexibility from commercial buildings. Here, the work is led by Mölndal Energi. Where 👉 Single-family houses, apartments, a public school, a charging station and commercial buildings (office buildings and hotel) in Mölndal. How will RESONANCE help❓In the CheckWatt case, an intelligent Customer Energy Manager (CEM) will control the battery energy storage systems in a way that maximises their profitability. This includes optimising self-consumption and getting paid for the battery’s contribution to the balancing of the power grid. In the latter case, multiple market services are at play such as for FCR-D (Frequency Containment Reserve – Disturbance) and local capacity markets. In the Mölndal Energi case, aggregated flexibility from buildings, based on their thermal inertia capacity as well as price signals, is used to optimise the production planning of the Combined Heat and Power Utility. The CEM system in the buildings calculates the heat demand and available flexibility which is aggregated and integrated into the production plan. The CEM also controls district heating usage, any flexibility demands from the district heating utility and responses to price signals for heat and electricity. Introducing our Greek pilot: Energy flexibility procurement across public and residential buildings The Greek pilot focuses on a cross-sectoral energy ecosystem related to Demand Response and is implemented in Ptolemaida, capital of the Municipality of Eordaia, in the Region of Western Macedonia, Northern Greece. The ecosystem consists of the District Heating Municipal Company of Ptolemaida (DHCP) in its capacity both as a heat provider, servicing private and municipal buildings and as a big industrial consumer, generating the required heat. The aim is to optimise DHCP’s operation and flexibility procurement. To do so, energy management of buildings with multi-vector heating systems will be implemented together with energy flexibility solutions, targeting residential and municipal consumers. Where👉Municipal buildings (new and old conservatory buildings and a natatorium) and residential buildings (45 apartments and/or single-family houses) in Ptolemaida, where the primary heating source is district heating supplied by DHCP. The pilot is led by CluBE-Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia, hosted by the Municipality of Eordaia, and supported by EUROPEAN DYNAMICS and Athens University of Economics and Business in terms of technical and business expertise. How will RESONANCE help❓Design and implement Resource Manager, Customer Energy Manager and Aggregation solutions that can perform a central cost optimisation, unlocking the flexibility potential and enabling the flexible operation of the district heating network. The Customer Energy Manager will be able to manage and react to price signals from multi-energy vectors based on the consumers’ preset preferences, and communicate the results to the Aggregation Platform. Moreover, the Customer Energy Manager will be extended and integrated with Resource Managers for monitoring and control of the targeted flexible assets. ⬇ https://lnkd.in/d3txNtqc

Introducing our French pilot: Electric vehicle smart charging and V2G flexibility provision. The aim of the French pilot is to reduce the total cost of electric vehicle (EV) charging on a parking facility and consequently the carbon footprint by optimising the energy usage based on solar production, price signals and flexibility provision. Where👉Car park with PV and EV charging assets at Cythelia Energy headquarters in La Motte-Servolex, Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, with the pilot being led by Bovlabs and supported by Trialog. How will RESONANCE help❓Integrate the PV, EVs and EVs with bidirectional charging into the Resource and Customer Energy Manager Catalogues and implement the Customer Energy Manager as a central control hub, enabling Vehicle-to-Grid flexibility provision and easy replication at other sites. ⬇ https://lnkd.in/dKdEF_gb

🙂 This week, the BRIDGE General Assembly gathered 270 experts from 91 EU-funded projects about smart grid & digitalisation of energy, in Brussels and online. From Trialog, Dune Sebilleau and Olivier Genest attended the meeting in Brussels and provided contributions mainly on Data Management.
