About us
Replica is a next-generation urban planning tool that can help cities answer key transportation and land use questions. Replica offers public agencies, land developers, and the community at large a complete sense of city movement patterns. The result is a higher confidence in critical transportation and land use decisions. Replica has three distinct advantages: Fresher data We create a new Replica every three months allowing comparisons of trip patterns over time and showing how people respond to new infrastructure and policies on the ground. A more detailed picture We replicate trip data for every street and transit route, every neighborhood and census tract, every moment of the day. Greater precision We calibrate our models against ground-truth data from public agencies to ensure accuracy and precision.

📢 Join HEAVY.AI's Mike Flaxman, Replica's Steven Turell, and Alta Planning Design's David Wasserman, AICP on July 30th and discover how to bridge the gap in bridge investment. 🌉 The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act's $9.6 billion Bridge Investment Program represents a significant opportunity to improve the nation's bridges. But current data limitations hinder a truly equitable approach. HEAVY.AI, Replica, and Alta Planning Design have partnered to address this challenge. We've developed an enriched dataset featuring a unique equity index. This allows for a more comprehensive analysis to ensure funds are directed towards areas with the most significant risk and potential improvement. 👉 Don't miss this opportunity, register for the webinar now: https://lnkd.in/g_KrrGGK #InfrastructureInvestment #DataAnalytics

On what would have been the first Monday of New York City's Congestion Pricing Plan, a team from The New York Times spent the morning counting cars to estimate potential revenue. They counted 22,252 vehicles and estimated $200k in revenue would have been generated during their hour of counting. Manual counts only provide a limited picture of traveler activity... which is where Replica comes in. To get the full scope of vehicle activity, the Times used Replica data, which shows an estimated 347,000 trips into the tolling district on an average weekday. Read more to learn about the investigation: https://lnkd.in/ecVk772f

Where are the most critical bridges in the country? We worked with Alta Planning Design and HEAVY.AI to create the first nationwide database of bridge conditions that also includes information on who uses each bridge, in order to help prioritize the allocation of significant funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in more equitable ways. The dataset, which incorporates data from the USDOT's National Bridge Inventory and Replica, assigns a Criticality Score to each bridge, and is designed to unlock the ability for agencies around the country to better answer questions related to equitable infrastructure improvements. Read the blog here and explore the data. https://lnkd.in/ea7hBNji

Last week, NYT reporter Ana Ley cited Replica on an episode of the The New York Times's The Daily podcast, exploring Governor Hochul's decision to halt congestion pricing in NY, and the resulting impact on the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Replica analysis helped to shed light on who would be impacted by the now-paused policy (spoiler alert: compared to those who take transit to work in the congestion zone, drivers have an average income 8% higher ($185K vs. $171K) and are much more likely to be white non-hispanic (51% vs. 36%)).
