ReMuNet Project
Freight and Package Transportation
Pioneering resilient and adaptive multimodal transport networks
About us
ReMuNet identifies and responds to disruptive events in multimodal transport corridors. Its core objective is to enable synchro-modal relay transport on European rail, road, and inland waterways, enhancing network resilience and efficiency. The system achieves this through a standardized description of multimodal transport networks, an algorithm for calculating alternative routes during disruptions, a collaborative platform for freight operators to manage disruptions, and the use of Reinforcement Learning to create a self-learning, adaptive freight transport and logistics network. The goal is to minimize damage, shorten recovery time, reduce emissions, and boost overall corridor efficiency in the face of disruptions.

๐บExciting news from the European Commission! ย ๐The new EU rules on the Trans-European Transport Network are set to revolutionize our mobility system, bringing Europe closer than ever. These changes include a minimum speed for trains, safe parking areas, connecting major airports with long-distance rail, and boosting rail freight. At ReMuNet, we are thrilled to see these advancements as they align perfectly with our mission. ๐ฏThese goals align with the key objectives of the ReMuNet project, which aims to enhance freight transportation. Two specific TEN-T corridors, the Rhine-Danube and the North Sea-Baltic, have been chosen to pilot the ReMuNet solution at a later stage. ๐Learn more about how ReMuNet will leverage this exciting opportunity: https://lnkd.in/dSfDifhw

๐ It was a pleasure for Hafen Wien GmbH and thinkport VIENNA - smart urban logistics to host the EU ReMuNet Project meeting. ๐ The ReMuNet Project aims to enhance the resilience of transport networks by leveraging software services and integrating various networks. During our productive discussions with experts from AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, viadonau, WienCont GmbH, and the Zentralverband Spedition & Logistik, we explored how disruptive events impact traffic flows within the multimodal transport network. These scenarios are then simulated in the ReMuNet project to mitigate the effects of such events and efficiently reroute transport flows. We're excited to follow up on the valuable insights gained yesterday in the coming months. A big thank you to our experts Bettina Matzner, Juergen Zajicek, Oliver Wagner, and our colleagues Robert Mladik and Michael Nakovitz from WienCont GmbH for their significant contributions and expertise on this crucial topic and everyone involed.
