This survey aims to enhance our understanding of various aspects of the transport process and the roles of different actors within it. 📢 Key takeaways from the SARIL and ReMuNet 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀   Recently, SARIL and ReMuNet Project jointly hosted a highly informative webinar on "Strategies and Tools for Sustainable and Resilient Intermodal Transport Networks". The event focused on the challenges and innovative solutions necessary for maintaining robust supply chains in the face of globalisation and unforeseen disruptions. Here are the key insights shared during the session:   ⚡ 𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺: John von Stamm (FIR at RWTH Aachen) presented the first results of the ReMuNet project, which aims to create a resilient multimodal freight transport network in Europe. Key points included understanding the ecosystem, categorising disruptive events, and developing an algorithm to avoid crisis areas. ⚡ 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Florian Krietsch (PTV Group) discussed intermodal services that enable modal shifts through simulation, collaboration, and operational scenarios. Emphasis was placed on the importance of strategic and operational planning to handle disruptions effectively. ⚡ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: Lars Deiterding (HACON) highlighted the necessity of making intermodal transport as transparent and flexible as modern multimodal passenger trips. Collaboration and data exchange are critical for achieving this goal. ⚡ 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀: Victor Becerra (DASSAULT SYSTEMES) shared lessons learned and strategies for mastering intermodal transport networks, focusing on data management, system interoperability, and capacity management. ⚡ 𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗜𝗟 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆: Corinna Köpke (Fraunhofer EMI) introduced the SARIL methodology, which combines strategic and operational tools to support resilient and sustainable logistics operations. This includes scenario simulations, route attribute models, and collaborative platforms for data exchange.   The session concluded with a Q&A and collaborative discussions to refine these innovative solutions and ensure they meet industry needs.   The webinar underscored the importance of understanding and managing the multimodal transport ecosystem to build resilience against disruptions. 🌟 It was a pleasure for Hafen Wien GmbH and thinkport VIENNA - smart urban logistics to host the EU ReMuNet Project meeting. 🌟 The ReMuNet Project aims to enhance the resilience of transport networks by leveraging software services and integrating various networks. During our productive discussions with experts from AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, viadonau, WienCont GmbH, and the Zentralverband Spedition & Logistik, we explored how disruptive events impact traffic flows within the multimodal transport network. These scenarios are then simulated in the ReMuNet project to mitigate the effects of such events and efficiently reroute transport flows. We're excited to follow up on the valuable insights gained yesterday in the coming months.
