According to the APA’s 2023 Work in America workforce survey, a staggering 94% of employees value a sense of belonging in their workplace. Earlier in the week, we discussed a few general ways to increase workplace connection. Focus on these when creating group activities and creating connections: ⭐Prioritize Connection: Allocate regular times for social interaction, such as social hours at week's end or informal chats before meetings. ⭐️Structured Activities: Employ icebreakers or shared tasks to help team members, especially remote ones, feel connected. ⭐️Establish Norms: Set clear expectations for teamwork and communication, particularly for remote collaboration. ⭐️Encourage Flexibility: Allow teams the autonomy to develop their own norms, respecting the diverse ways different groups connect. ⭐️Get Creative: Innovate with virtual mentoring or retreats to maintain connections without needing a physical return to the office.
