Our very own Dana Kuhnline and Natalia Rudiak spoke at the Conference on Global Coal Transitions panel at The Ohio State University earlier this week, discussing federal investments and the coal transition in Appalachia while detailing strategies to ensure these investments generate benefits for communities and unions!
Policy frameworks designed by the Biden Administration seek to use investments from the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to uphold high labor standards and to distribute significant benefits to communities near federally funded projects. Appalachia has already seen hundreds of millions of dollars invested in the region.
Yet, precisely how these investments will shape the future of Appalachian coal country remains an open question.
