The 10th Annual SelectUSA Summit in Washington D.C. was a tremendous success, drawing over 5,000 attendees, including 2,500 international business leaders from 96 countries and representatives from all U.S. states and territories. Our own VP of International Development, D. Paul Zito, was in attendance along with a robust team from JobsOhio, promoting foreign direct investment into Ohio. #TeamOhio had productive meetings with companies from Germany, Japan, Austria, India, Belgium, and the UK, highlighting the advantages of the Toledo region and Northwest Ohio as prime business locations. Ground has officially broken on Louis Dreyfus Company's new soybean processing plant in Upper Sandusky, which will create over 100 jobs. This $500 million cutting-edge facility in Wyandot County reinforces Ohio's leadership in the agricultural sector. Ohio, home to about 26,000 soybean farmers, will benefit from this state-of-the-art plant with integrated crushing, oil refining, and lecithin production. It's well established that getting out in nature is a boon to a person's physical and mental wellbeing. Maybe that's why Toledoans are so happy. Today we are sharing the news that Metro Toledo has moved up 13 spots in a national scoring system used to evaluate city and suburban park districts in America. The 2024 Trust for Public Land ParkScore Index lists Metroparks Toledo at No. 27, scoring higher for greater park access and investment, as well as newer programs being offered by Toledo's youth services. Officials from Japan and other Midwest states will descend upon Columbus in September for the 54th annual Midwest US-Japan Conference in an effort to continue to foster economic collaboration between the two countries. More than 300 top officials are expected to attend, which brings with it a prime opportunity to further solidify this partnership.
