  • 🐝 Birds and bees and rubber trees... For the first time this year, the RRI came together at the heart of its initiative: the agroforestry plantations in Thailand. On the first day, industry members and other interested parties were able to witness the traceable supply chain system put in place by the farmers supported and verified by our partners of the RAFS foundation. Tasting stingless bee honey from the agroforestry plantations certainly was one of the highlights. The second day provided deeper insights into the science behind agroforestry and its environmental and social benefits as well as an understanding of how the traceability was ensured during the latex processing at Phattalung Paratex. The visit concluded with discussions about the further collaboration between the farmers, industry and scientists to improve the eco-sociological impact of the supply chain. • 🌱 Tapping into the potential of agroforestry with the RRI 🌿 Bringing farmers, researchers and industry partners together, we want to create a socially and environmentally sustainable ecosystem for rubber agroforestry. The foundation has already been established - four cooperatives consisting of 131 smallholder farmers are cultivating rubber in agroforests and monitoring each other in a participatory guarantee system. For their efforts, they receive a premium price. The latex is then processed on a separate production line, providing a 100% traceable product to the industry members of the RRI. However, there is still a long way to go to create a lasting impact on how rubber is sourced. But for this journey, we need fellow travelers. So if you want get involved and join us in building rubber supply chains who put people and the environment first, reach out to us via LinkedIn or our website! We are looking forward to taking strides with you! #agroforestry #rubber #smallholder #agriculture
