We had a wonderful time at the Swim Across America - Baltimore pool swim at Patterson Park on Sunday! 💦 Keith Perry (center), executive director of the Red Cross of Southern Maryland, spoke during the event kickoff before swimmers dove in to raise money for cancer research. #RedCrossInYourCommunity

🚨 Matching Gift Alert! Thanks to our friends at Land O'Lakes, Inc. and their Foundation, every dollar you donate TODAY (July 23) will be matched, up to $100K until midnight. Your support and gift can help people like Earnestine Hill whose home of 32 years was decimated by a tornado in Silver City, Mississippi last year. She was home when the tornado struck and suffered injuries to her leg and ankle. Red Cross volunteer Charlene Walker was able to comfort and discuss recovery resources with Earnestine as she showed Charlene the items she salvaged from her devastated home. Our volunteers help thousands of people every day affected by disasters, and with your support, we can help even more. Donate today to double your impact: https://rdcrss.org/4fg1q4f

We 💙 our volunteers! These smiling faces provide support at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland with our Service to the Armed (SAF) program. They were honored with an appreciation lunch this spring at the Malcolm Grow Clinics and Surgery Center on Joint Base Andrews. In the first photo, our SAF volunteer team is joined by Chief Master Sergeant Arwa Cavender and Colonel Robert Corby, the senior enlisted leader of the 316th Medical Group. In the second photo, volunteer lead Geraldine Thompson is pictured with Colonel Corby and Dale Kunce, #RedCrossNCGC CEO, as she received an award of recognition. ⭐ More on how the Red Cross supports soldiers at Joint Base Andrews: https://rdcrss.org/41J6INC

I enjoy creating inclusive spaces for everyone to succeed. I have a people-first and forward-thinking mindset.
So thankful to volunteer with the American Red Cross! Our ‘Sound the Alarm’ team is amazing! One smoke alarm can save lives. Today we visited over two blocks in Baltimore City providing fire safety education and checking or installing smoke alarms! I’m so proud of how much we’ve grown and all of the wonderful people I get to meet each time. We also got water, gatorade, and breakfast from Wawa so we were all fueled up and ready to go! If this sounds as amazing to you as it does to me, please join us! redcross.org/volunteer We appreciate the Baltimore City Fire Department for all that they do! 👏 American Red Cross of the National Capital & Greater Chesapeake Region American Red Cross Baltimore City Fire Department Wawa, Inc. While most fires and storms catch us off guard, YOU can be trained to respond in emergencies and help neighbors in need. We're seeking dedicated volunteers ready to undergo training and be prepared to help people impacted by disasters, both here in local communities and across the country. We are heartbroken to hear of this tragic news. Pablo came to our Silver Spring office last month for the Heat Action Day mural unveiling event. We will not forget his joy, passion and warmth. The American Red Cross of the National Capital & Greater Chesapeake Region sends our condolences to Pablo's family and our colleagues at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre. ❤
We at the Climate Centre mourn the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Pablo Suarez. Pablo, who was born in Argentina and first connected with the Climate Centre in 2004, championed innovative engagements to communicate and help people understand risk from different perspectives, including serious games, acrobatics, cartoons and art. “We will continue to work towards realising Pablo’s vision of deploying innovative and effective approaches for ensuring the most vulnerable not only survive but flourish despite climate change.”
