Throwback to March when one of our AMAZING RGMbassadors held a Red Glasses School Takeover at her kiddos school in Jacksonville, Fl! A RGST is when a RGMbassador (someone who is passionate about RGM) shares the following with students and staff: 1. One of our RGM videos that shares the story of Audrey’s life and the progress of over 50,000 Red Glasses being shared all over the world. 2. The RGMbassador shares how students can create community right where they are by making eye contact, engaging in small talk and taking the time to get to know and include the people around them. 3. The RGMbassador leads a workshop to highlight what it feels like to include others and to be included. All students make their own Red Glasses goals and follow up on those goals in 6 to 8 weeks. About us
The Red Glasses Movement was started in honor of a special 5-year old, Audrey Louise who passed away from a severe infection in 2018. Audrey was born with Down syndrome and a congenital heart defect but these were not the things that defined her. The mission of this movement is to encourage us all to live like Audrey, to live boldly, love big, and pass it along. Audrey was defined by her bright Red Glasses, her contagious smile, and lack of inhibitions. She went through life like a little bulldozer and pushed her way through every door and achieved her goals again and again. Audrey had a way of loving without restrictions. If she saw someone she loved or wanted to make a new friend, she just went up and squeezed the heck out of them! The Red Glasses Movement is Audrey’s living legacy. Tens of thousands of Red Glasses have been shared all over the world. The mission of this movement is to inspire people to put on the Red Glasses and see the world through Audrey’s eyes. To simply, LIVE BOLDLY. LOVE BIG. PASS IT ON. Audrey knew her purpose. Go find yours. And when you do, proudly show it to others. Let the Red Glasses remind you to act on your passion. Love others and love BIG! Do good deeds. Reach out to someone who needs a friend, a smile, or maybe just a high five. Spread love regardless of typical boundaries. And once you feel like the Red Glasses have moved you, tell someone else about them and share the good feeling they give you and maybe, share your glasses. A friend was sharing this quote in her grief of losing her husband. I was taken aback at its raw and intimate sadness. Imagining all the hurt and pain and then the rather depressing heap of rotting apples.
