About us

The Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT) is an independent international Non-Governmental Organization in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information. RASIT was signed into being by HRH Prince Mohammed bin King Faisal (I) El-Hashemite – Founder President on 17 April 1968, and is dedicated to promoting excellence in education and science, and plays an influential role in regional and international higher education policy and supports developments in Science Technology Medicine in a wide range of ways. RASIT champions the contribution that science and innovation can make to economic prosperity, quality of life and environmental sustainability. RASIT is a focal center for debate about science, society and public policy. RASIT’s work is organized around four themes: diplomacy, governance, innovation and sustainability. Several of the issues we work on are driven by organization / country demand and regional priorities. However, many of the issues we tackle are global in nature and require international collaboration with other science academies / institutions, research and policy organizations, civil society and private sectors. RASIT's work is led by working groups of Associate members and other experts, including economists and social scientists. For more than 50 years, RASIT has been an organization with an infinite vision into the future, and will continue this tradition of measureless services for the benefit of mankind.

Like today, 14th July, in 1930, my late father was born. Like today, 14th July, in 1958, a military coup happened in Iraq, and my father only survived, as he was on a plane going to Istanbul to meet his nephew King Faisal II of Iraq to witness his wedding. My father, the only male remained from the branch of King Faisal bin El-Sharif Hussein bin Ali El-Hashemite, and this Branch is alive and with God's will to remain alive, to continue our mission in this world by having the honor of serving humanity.

  • 🌎 On the International Day for Victims of Torture and Drug Abuse, RASIT Reaffirms Commitment to Human Dignity 🌎 On this International Day for Victims of Torture and Drug Abuse, the Royal Academy of Science International Trust (RASIT) stands in solidarity with the countless individuals whose lives have been shattered by these heinous acts. Torture and drug abuse are profound violations of human dignity, inflicting physical and psychological harm that transcends borders and generations. They impede sustainable development and undermine the very fabric of a just and equitable society. RASIT recognizes the crucial role of science in addressing these complex issues. We advocate for scientific advancements in rehabilitation and treatment for victims, as well as research to understand and prevent the root causes of torture and drug abuse. We commend the tireless efforts of individuals and organizations working on the frontlines to combat torture and drug abuse, and to support the victims who so bravely rebuild their lives. This day serves as a stark reminder of our collective responsibility: * To uphold the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and protect the fundamental right to be free from torture and degrading treatment. * To invest in evidence-based approaches to prevent and respond to drug abuse, promoting public health and well-being. * To foster international cooperation and knowledge-sharing to dismantle the networks that perpetrate these crimes. RASIT remains committed to playing its part in creating a world where all individuals can live free from fear and violence. #InternationalDayforVictimsofTorture #DrugAbusePrevention #HumanRights #RASIT #ScienceForGood
