As Seen in Today’s E-Newsletter: Yesterday’s 2024 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity Conference, in partnership with Bank of America, was a powerful platform for focusing on the future of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the business community and beyond. The Triangle DEI Alliance’s annual event kicked off with an impactful opening presentation on DEI Metro Data with Ted Abernathy of Economic Leadership LLC, who presented findings on where our region currently ranks (Raleigh was ranked No. 9 overall.) Attendees then had the opportunity to participate in a series of enlightening breakout sessions led by industry experts from around the Triangle, aimed at equipping organizations with the tools to foster and sustain DEI in the workplace regardless of their role or level of experience. One of the highlights of the conference was the announcement of the 4th Annual Phil Freelon Award, a prestigious recognition that celebrates outstanding contributions to the advancement of diversity and inclusivity in the region. Patrice Gilmore, CPSD, CCA, National Supplier Lead for DPR Construction, was announced as this year’s honoree by Courtney J. White of BASF, a previous Phil Freelon Award winner. The keynote address by Matthew McCarthy, business executive and former CEO of Ben & Jerry's, delivered a key learning moment that resonated with attendees. Matthew's insights into the intersection of business, equity, and social responsibility underscored the vital role of DEI in driving innovation and success. “The business imperative for DEI is so clear, I have to tell people sometimes DEI is your talent strategy,” said McCarthy. “I’m here to remind folks in the business world that everybody in your organization that is going to take on positions of leadership, to actually ensure the safety and thriving of your organization, they are more diverse than anyone that’s ever come before them.” His address left a lasting impact, inspiring attendees to embrace DEI as a moral and business imperative to be a catalyst for positive change and growth. The day concluded with industry-focused action sessions and a closing networking reception, providing an opportunity for attendees to strategize and connect, further fostering a spirit of collaboration and momentum for advancing DEI in the region. As the conference came to an end, participants left with valuable insights and a renewed commitment to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion, shaping a more equitable future for us all. #DEIConf24 Thank you again to each of our sponsors: Partner - Bank of America Presenting - BASF, CSL, Lenovo, Marsh McLennan Agency Find More: https://lnkd.in/e2v8ZTZ6 Subscribe: https://lnkd.in/erxCFriE
